Cleaning belt case air cleaner

I'm just about at 4000 miles on the forza. The maintenance schedule says to clean the belt case air cleaner element at 4000 miles. The service manual says to use non-flammable or high flash point solvent. Just wondering if anyone has done this and what you used to clean it. Would mineral spirits be good to use?

Id replace it, cant be much $

But std air cleaner kits are at any parts store.

No it doesn't, it says do it at 8000 miles.

You must have a different service manual than I have. I have the honda service manual and am looking at the maintenance
schedule right now.

It shows the following at 4000 miles:
-Clean crankcase breather
-Inspect spark plug
-Inspect engine idle speed
-Clean belt case air cleaner
-Inspect brake fluid
-Inspect brake pads wear
-Inspect brake lock operation
-Inspect clutch shoes wear

It shows the following at 8000 miles:
-Inspect fuel line
-Inspect throttle operation
-Clean crankcase breather
-Replace spark plug
-Replace engine oil filter
-Inspect engine idle speed
-Inspect radiator coolant
-Inspect cooling system
-Inspect secondary air supply system
-Inspect drive belt
-Clean belt case air cleaner
-Inspect brake fluid
-Inspect brake pads wear
-Inspect brake system
-Inspect brake lock operation
-Inspect headlight aim
-Inspect clutch shoes wear
-Inspect sidestand
-Inspect suspension
-Inspect nuts, bolts, fasteners
-Inspect wheels/tires
-Inspect head bearings

So according to the service manual, the belt case air cleaner element should be cleaned at both 4000 and 8000 miles.
I just cleaned mine, their isn't much to the element, and it wasn't very dirty at all so could have probably waited until
8000 miles, but I prefer to go by the maintenance schedule.
I just looked in the owners manual, and it also says to clean the belt case air cleaner at 4000 miles.
This is what the USA owners manual and service manual both say anyway, maybe the maintenance schedule is different
for other countries.

So reading here, this air cleaner is not the air intake for the motor? And its just for the belt?, then what is filtering the air into the engine?… Where is that filter?

Yep, this air cleaner element is just for the belt. The regular air cleaner is inside the air cleaner housing above the left crankcase cover. You need to remove 7 screws to
remove the cover to get at the element. This element cannot be cleaned and should be replaced every 12000 miles according to the maintenance schedule.

There's absolutely no need to do any maintenance on a Forza 300 at 4000 mile intervals unless your riding it in extremely dusty or wet conditions.
From what I have seen in pics from the USA, scooters there never see dirt or rain :lol:.

Yes...there appears to be something strange ..In UK the service interval is 12 months or 8000mls whichever comes first...all as per the Forza book coming with the bike..no doubt about that and it was one of the "selling points" for me.
However as I could not source a "service manual" in the UK I got one from the States...and in that book it says service intervals at 4000 mls!! ( I seem to remember that mileage being referred to elsewhere in this forum)
Someone at Honda should be asked to explain that...for the same bike manufactured in Thailand!...makes you wonder.

Hello from BC, Canada. I bought a used (Crashed) 2014 Forza. I was looking the bike over at 2000 km and the belt filter was full of little twigs and dandelion seeds. This filter is a simple piece of coarse foam. I pulled the twigs out and smacked the dusk off of the filter. Good to go. Don't over think this.
