Potential available with variator and exhaust

Post by waspmike »

Admin there is no Forza Performance section

Here is what is available from a Forza 300 and you can still ride it to work!

Red line is Stock
Blue line is with aftermarket exhaust (in this case J Costa)
Beige line is with J Costa variator and the exhaust.

So... the exhaust does virtually nothing to improve the performance of the HP curve.

The variator however makes a big difference!

Too bad you didn't post the variator curve alone (with the stock exhaust).

Horsepower is only a calculation and I'm not sure the trace below is a curve.

Yes the exhaust does contribute just that the stock variator obviously does not allow it to do so.

They do usually give graphs like below which is for the 250 Forza.

Well that is not a fixed gear Dyno curve like conventional motorcycle, tested in one gear, would give.

The set up indicated gives the best optimization for road use , hence my tongue in cheek reference to still being able to ride it to work.

Changing the variator cannot increase the power anywhere. It can only change the rpm at which the bike accelerates. Which will be at a higher power for a higher rpm from stock. And it can add top speed from longer gearing.
.
Changing the exhaust may need a fuel controller to go with it if the stock computer runs out of range to adapt. Which may take a couple days after changing the exhaust. So you can't just change the exhaust and jump right on the dyno and expect anything good to come from it unless you add the fuel controller.

Never knew giving a big chunk of my hard earned to JCosta could get me up to as many as 38 on the "Potencia" scale.

Do you need to turn the throttle all the way up to 11...?
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong
