Windshield extension

Post by vegasboy »

Just got my clip on windscreen in today. It does work, keeping the helmet buffeting at bay. I have a taller honda windshield but is still a few inches too short. Before I order a more expensive bolt on, I wanted to see if this $25 one would work.

I like the top of my windshield to be about 1-2 inches below my eye level. I like to have it for wind abatement and cover to duck under when necessary , but would never ride looking through it.The extension may exhibit some distortion so be prepared .

I have a Laminar Lip on my Forsa tall windshield and it works great...

I have a Laminar Lip installed on a short Forza screen (That's my scooter on the laminarlip.com Forza page).

It works really well, but I decided to go with the large GIVI screen because at the time I was doing a lot of freeway riding on the Forza and I wanted the max available windshield protection. I'll sell the Lip already mounted on the original Forza short screen for $50, shipping included (in US) if anybody wants it. Both are in like new condition.

Johnny, I have the large Honda screen but it is a little too large for the too short me.

Do you have the adjustable screen? How is it in a big wind?

I also have the Laminar Lip on my Majesty scooter. It is an improvement but not as effective as the Givi shield. The Give does however have flexing problems and adds to control problems in high winds. I change to the Givi for the winter but then change back in the spring.
I would be concerned about the security of the clip on but if it holds well it is certainly MUCH cheaper than the other two options.

Dave, my Givi is the one-piece, not the adjustable one. Its top is just a little above my sight line (I'm 5'9" or so) but that doesn't bother me because it's optically correct and doesn't distort what I see. It works really well at high speeds and I've never noticed any problems with crosswinds (yet), and we get some good ones around here from time to time.

Wow! When I looked for one a few years ago there were only 2 available, and both were expensive, close to the cost of a replacement windshield from Givi. Nice to see that there are other options now. I have the tall Givi windshield on my PCX, and it seems to be thin at the top. I don't know how well it would handle the extension, but it is nice to know that they are available now at a reasonable price.

This is an old thread but I thought I revive it.

I'm also thinking about a windshield extension, I have old model Forza 2016 with original small windscreen - well, that equals = no screen really...!

I like the idea of being able to clip on an extension for occasional highway ride, but take it off for town and slow speed ride, here in Thailand temprature never drops, so a joy to get some wind most of the time ...

Now question one, is that Laminar version glued on or screwed on, can't see from the photo...!?

I found various models in addition to above, I put links below, but they mostly come in two sizes, 28x11cm, or 37x16cm, have you guys tried any and which size is useful...? The tip of small screen on old Forza is 28cm by the way...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07VN771 ... UTF8&psc=1

This above is what I like, it has two clips on the sides, rather than one in the middle, I thought more stable... !

https://www.lazada.co.th//products/i104 ... lFlag=true

This also looks very low profile and neat, but also seems flimsy and not sure it holds at high speed or is effective..., zero feedback or reviews also...!

I bought a replica from Aliexpress and it wasn't that good of quality. I like the design though. one of the brackets broke, so I ended up making a better one that incorporated a nut and bolt arrangement, it's in green.

Here is the link, I payed $18 for it. It's more expensive now, not worth the quality.

Not sure who makes the Original design.

I do like this one better than the ones with the bracket in the middle.
I used one of these for a year or two, it definitely helped, but I think it was a bit heavy. It's still in good condition though, so much better quality than the current one that I have installed.

I bought my from ebay though.

The original two brackets model are made by MRA, cost about US$100..., the one bracket in the midlle also produced by Puig I think, they are more expensive of course...

Thanks for the info, I hope someone who tried it on old Forza model with original small screen can also send feedback...
