Firstly apologies if this or a similar topic already exists. I have a 2015 PCX 125 in matt grey. I have loved owning/riding this bike until recently!! In the last few months i've had a major issue of the bike suddenly losing power, not cutting out, just the throttle not biting. So i pointed this out when i took it for its 4500 mile service. The service was hefty at £512 because the front brake, pistons, disc all needed replacing. Apparantly salt grit had seized the pistons and wrecked the brake. The Honda dealer said the cutting out/loss of power was due to water in the air filter?? That was last week been ok till this morning when it's happened again!! ARGH. Anyone else experienced this problem and have a solution?

It’s the first I’ve heard about the water in the air filter. It shouldn’t be a problem unless you are fording some very deep water.

I have not heard of this happening, but if you think this might be a continual problem, order a few from partzilla.com, and change them as needed until this issue is sorted. They are only $5, and only take a few minutes to change. (It is probably more expensive where you live, so shop around, including the internet.)

Thanks guys the genuine Honda part is available online here in the UK for around £15, I will try a replacement. I don't go through deep water and when i clean the bike I'm only using a garden hose, not pressure washer, so I don't understand how water can be getting in badly enough to make the bike hesitant.

Check your air filter after you wash it. I washed my 2013 PCX and used a garden hose and water got into the filter housing.

If you unscrew the filter cover, just the cross head screws you’ll have access to the filter. Then you can either dry it out with a hair dryer or leave some where warm in the house overnight to dry out completely.

I’ve had water in mine before but that was from riding through a puddle that turned out to be very deep. My one still ran fine but wouldn’t go faster than about 10mph
