Hello from Snowy Long Island!

Post by joshuawarner »

Hi Folks,

Super excited that I just purchased my first 2018 PCX scooter and of course, we just had a huge snow storm.. looks like it'll be awhile before I get to take it out again.

Dark blue color, looks really nice. I guess the USA model doesn't have the key fab with light, nor the push to start. Also looks to have analog speedometer with digital dash. In any case, 2.1 gallon tank and roomy under seat storage is awesome!

Shoutout with any questions on the new model, I'm sure I'll have some questions as I get to use it more. Looking forward to many exciting rides ahead!

Welcome!

Good luck with your new Blue one! :D

I totally agree about the snow and cold situation. It's brutal. Haven't seen it like this around here since the 1980's. o_O

Mine sits in the garage waiting for warmer days and clear roads.

Make sure to get the oil changed and clean the filter (screen) at 600 miles. Tons of information here on how to maintain your new PCX and learn from other's experiences on the road. Take your time learning to ride it and see how it responds and performs. I think you'll agree the brakes are more than adequate. Be alert and maintain situation awareness above all. . .lot's of foolish drivers out there. ;)

One of your first accessories should be a tall windshield. It cuts the wind dramatically. Also, if you are going to ride in the winter there is a cover that protects your legs available. I think it is called a Termoscud.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

I agree with Mel on the taller windscreen. Since the windscreen is critical safety component, I'd only recommend one made from polycarbonate (Lexan). The only two I know of guaranteed made from poycarb are the Honda "tall" OEM and the National Cycle windscreens.

I have a pair of snowboard pants that work great for riding down to about 25°F. (I think I paid $10 during a "spring clearance" sale.)

I love the blue! Enjoy! :D

Yes indeed, Welcome Aboard!
True! Long Island's been in a deep freeze for a week or so now. We have Snow piled so high you can't see your neighbor next door. By the end of the week we'll be warming up but then, we have Salt, Salt and more Salt. Sand, Sand and more Sand to contend with. Best keep your ride indoors for awhile. Keep her battery plugged in and juiced up with a Deltrane Battery Tender Jr (Walmart Auto Dept now sells them) ;)
