Ideally you'll want at least pair of them, one either side with a circular cog between....

Once upon a time certain bikes had two separate means of starting by foot power.

No one ever started a Fizzie with the pedals. It was a right palaver.

What's behind the Jota? A couple of old Kawasakis?

I'm pretty certain the one with the trade plate is a Suzuki GS1000G, according to https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ the P reg one is a Z900

I wonder if it will be easier to certify an electric vehicle in any given country than a comparable gas model due to being emission free? It would make it possible for Honda in each country to order smaller quantities than if they were bringing a new gas bike in and forced with emissions certification. The quick change battery scheme makes it possible to carry an extra pair as luggage for a longer trip. A one hour fast charge at level 2 charge stations would also be nice.
.
Any reports on the battery capacity and top speed?

Could be. Except it doesn't fit with the other classics.

I just contacted two big Honda dealerships here in NYC and asked them if they were eventually going to get the electric and hybrid PCXs? They both replied they didnt even hear about Honda announcing such bikes let alone getting them here in the states. Lol.

Guess us PCX fans are more on top of Honda announcements than the dealers are!

But yeah, i wouldn't hold my breath for a US release date anytime soon.

Charging of electric vehicles seem horrendously expensive - many places such as underground car parks in London, Ikea stores, etc use a 3rd party supplier called Ecotricity, and you obtain a card to use in their machines to charge your vehicle, thing is quoted cost is '£6 for a 30 minute rapid charge'! Electricity should be much cheaper than the cost end-end of providing normal fuel, but it seems once again the public are being fleeced for as much as they can get. 1Kwh for home users is about £0.13-0.23p around the country, cheaper for wholesale companies.

Trying to come up with a profit worthy business model for private companies running charge stations has been very difficult. Especially in big cities where land use expenses are astonomical. To plug into a charge station you are also paying to park in that spot. installing and maintaining the stations is expensive. Hopefully any EV will have enough range to make a round trip and charge at home. At which point it is considerably cheaper than gas in most countries (except USA). And greener
.
But we must figure out a way to build out millions of electrical outlets in parking spots. The only way the transition to renewable energy works is to have a high percentage of EV's and have them charge during the day. And sell back with vehicle to grid at night.
.
A small machine like the PCX can offer up it's batteries to bring into the workplace to charge during the day if need be.

One also has too look at the cost per mile when comparing different energy sources. My scoot is 3.7 cents per mile, an electric car with an efficiency of 4 miles per kilowatt and 20 cents per kilowatt charge would net a 5 cents per mile cost. My Subaru with 27 MPG gets about ~11 cents per mile. 4 miles per kilowatt is on the high end of the efficiency of an electric car. My local charging stations are about 15 to 20 cents per kilowatt. That's with the 6.6kw per hour charge rate. That still seems like a good price to me. My University has free charging, too bad I don't have an electric vehicle.

My concern with the electric PCX is the range, did they make those batteries big enough.

That is the big unanswered question at this point. They were constrained by the existing design. But I give them credit for offering it as a statement and many people can get to work, and charge something small like that at work, with 20 miles range. I would have to guess those packs are 3-4 kWh total and you could get 8-10 miles/ kWH on a PCX.

A PCX is only a 125 so its going to use less electricity than a 300

Those batteries should be able to fully charge during the work shift.

I read a little Japanese, and listen even smaller Japanese. I didn't detect any mention of the range in the video. Not much information.

Also this comment there confirmed it

They also mentioned the UK quite a few times too.

You know I think I'd be tempted.

Just bought a pushbike to get fit again (hopefully) and part of me is regretting not getting an electrical assist version.

Pity Honda did not hold back on the loud and intrusive music when demonstrating the sound each bike makes - yeah you can hear the difference but pity they followed the industry norm to have load music over everything. Electric cars may be almost silent, can't say that about the electric PCX - seems very loud and not sure I would like that noise compared to the normal engine sound.
In years to come we may have no option, hybrid or electric is here to stay, but I would like see to how reliable they are and how costly they are to maintain before jumping in.
