They put electric buses on the downtown mall here in Denver and have had to put noise making speakers on the front to let folks know they are coming. Great idea, put silent buses on an pedestrian mall!

Similar to the Vectrix. Lot's of gear whine from a planetary gear reduction.

In the airport here in Atlanta they have a tram system that announces that it is arriving or leaving. Maybe on electric mass transit vehicles they can announce who/what they are when anyone or any thing nears their sensors?? ...oh, and don't forget to throw out some smog when it passes anything. :-)

Really though, the noise factor, or lack there of, is going to be a real challenge. Look at the number of idiots you see every day stepping into the street without looking because something on their phone is more important than their lives.

I like the sound of the electric PCX, sounds like the Jetsons. I think maintenance should be a non issue, like an electric car there is no oil change, valve adjustments, air filter, etc. The only concern for me is the range of the scoot, how big are those batteries.

I just emailed Honda HQ and asked if the Electric or Hybrid PCX will be released in the USA next year as well. I will let y'all know if they respond.

There is no reason that the "hybrid" PCX couldn't replace the standard one we have known for very little additional cost. It would just need a better battery and some software changes. Maybe a bigger motor/generator. But not necessarily even that. Having the starter motor/ generator coupled to the crankshaft is already the first step to a mild hybrid.

That's a good point.

Interesting quote from this Thailand source nationalmultimedia.com, not sure how legit, " This is also to keep up with Honda’s plan to sell PCX Electric globally by next year, he said". It looks like the electric model will be sold outside of Asia. Maybe the Hybrid one will meets epa emissions requirements.
