Buying a PCX 125 with 50,000km

Hey,

I'm thinking of purchasing a PCX because I need something to get around in.
I'm looking to purchase a CB500x but i don't have the money, and i need something to get around in at the moment.
My plan is to buy a second-hand PCX, for around 1300 euros. Then sell it in 6 months when i have the money to buy a CB500x. Hopefully, sell it with little loss and devaluation.

I've been looking around, and there are PCXs at that price, but they have around 50,000km.

Is 50,000km too much for a motorcycle this size? What would you recommend I look at before buying one?

Also, what would you pay for a 2011 50,000km PCX?

Welcome Fred! I would not buy a 2011 PCX at all. You can do sooooo much better here in the states on a used PCX for little money. I see you are euro currency so help us help you by giving more location info in your profile. Maybe someone can direct you to a GREAT deal on a much newer PCX that has better resale value because the 2011 is the first year and PCX has come a long way since then.

I'm currently in Portugal. I've also been looking at a 2012 version with 13,000km. What about that?
What year would you recommend?

Ah Portugal, pop that in your profile so we can always see it. You should really try and get a 2015 or later. You will benefit from LED lights all the way around and have a much better trade in value when you step up to a bigger bike. But by then you will LOVE the scooter and forget about bigger bikes :)

2012 was a version that could have been considered a 2011 or a 2013 model, depending on exact manufacture date. The 2011 version had a problem with its center stand. It was weak enough that too much weight or rust would cause it to break at the attach point, possibly pushing into the crankcase.
On the 2013 model they reinforced it, thus solving the problem. Just remember to clean it and grease it ever so often if you ride in bad weather. 13,000km is low mileage on a pcx.

The newer model pcx (2015 +) is a better bet because of their improvements, but if you can't afford one of those, the 2013 model would be great for you.

Living in Portugal but you aren't Portuguese :lol:

PCXs are are excellent scooters but the shorthand version is only buy an ESP model.

Mine is a 2013 model (technically 2014, but that year used the 2013 design) that's now done 32,000km - and it's absolutely fine. I expect to get 3 times that out of it. I track oil burn and it's only burning on average 65ml of oil per 4,000km.

Buyer beware though - it's going to depend on what's been done to it, and what hasn't - it it's done 50,000 km without an oil change then all bets are off - other things like brake condition, brake fluid condition, belt & clutch wear are unknowns. It REALLY needs to be looked over by someone who knows what they're looking for in my opinion.

he said he gonna be using it for only 6 months..go for it..ask more discount though
but if youre planning to use it as an alternative ride for the CB500x, then buy the latest model 2015 up..
Everything looks better from the inside of a motorcycle helmet...
