Yesterday I went on a ride from Redlands to Newport Beach and back with no break. Man....that had to be one of the dumbest things ive ever done lol. 5 hours on the PCX is a near death sentence. The wind was amazingly strong yesterday and nearly blew me over almost 5 times, it threw me almost into on coming traffic from the far side of the lane. The ride to the beach wasn't bad. It was mainly the ride back with no break in between that did it. If this thing had a better seat, better rear shocks and more leg room. It may have been a grueling ride. Let me know about your longest ride on the PCX and how you liked or disliked it.

In this instance is four almost five?

Some say don't fight the wind and it will be ok on the PCX - definitely not my experience. It's not good riding on this bike in any strong wind, at least for a 6ft 175lb guy - blown all over the place during very strong gusts.

Probably around 3 hours.

No long journeys aren't the PCX's forte, though I always try...

I am upgrading the rear shocks this weekend, and will report on any noticeable changes (after fiddling with the shock settings)

It's not so much the wind that gets me.. More the bumps and potential to discover very bumpy roads which for a bigger bike or a car are no problem but for my little PCX become a jittery wobbly teeth grinding back shattering experience.

It's exhausting, but at same time I'm always up for a long ride, though not on motorways/highways.

Are mandatory tea and cake stops every hour included in the definition 'continual ride'?
If not I'll never make it past 50 miles

Such has been my experience with all scooters I've ever ridden. The minimal weight and large fairings make them difficult to ride in wind. My Kymco People 150 was worse. It was 50 lbs lighter. About six years ago the wind caught me with a strong gust and blew me off the road into the ditch. I somehow remained upright, but once I got back on the road, I stuck to the berm and took my time.

You read my mind exactly 2U's ... and then posted it.

1/2 hour, give or take a couple minutes.

Briefly had a Yamaha X-Max 125cc a few years ago. Well made machine but a dog in the wind. PCX is a big improvement on that.

I added a tall Givi windshield, and tailbone plus new shocks and a custom seat to both of our 2013 pcx 150s and then we took them on a 5 state round Robin that took all day and into the night. We only stopped to fill up, but then we took a lunch break before heading home. The lunch break was probably at around 3 pm, so I'm not sure what it would considered. We just called it lunch because we had missed lunch. It was not too bad of a ride, though we had to rest up for a few days afterwards.
By the way, I would not try this during the winter. Fighting the wind would exhaust us way before we reached our goal.

In our house, we call that "Dunch" or "Linner."

Last year i did a numbing 12 miles...

Mel's aftermarket shocks and seat are probably the deal-makers for long rides.

My longest ride has been 590km. Thanks to my Airhawk seat pad, it was a comfortable one.

Here is my bike, stored for the winter. I have a custom seat plus a gel pad for more comfort, plus I added a removable Styrofoam back support for my lower back where I have had 6 back surgeries. All of it is very comfortable for long rides. The shocks are adjustable too.
The tall windshield is on order.

Here is my wife's bike, also stored for winter. Her custom seat is more visible, and she already has the tall windshield on it.

Thanks for the pictures Mel. It helps in choosing a seat upgrade. My rides are rarely under 100 miles and I need a better one but, so far the only retailer of custom seats that I can find for the 2015 are from Bikerbitz - and I have no idea which is best for long trips.
Maybe I should start with a Airhawk gel pad and see how that works, then get a custom seat if I need more...

This scoot is awesome , nimble and just a fun bike to do the twistys and hills, but not for distance and not for highways. The seat is terrible and unless its modified will be hell and you will have a sore ass in short order. The other problem is the wind will beat you to death and you will constantly be fighting it by being pushed all around. The bike is best for local sport driving and moderate (Under 45 mpg) for best results.I have been doing 55 mph and when I hit a cross street or open area I know to hold on and be prepared for a gusty sideways push. It is what it is.. keep it under 45 and all is good !

You and I may not use it this way, but many forum members apparently do both distance and highway runs on the PCX. Indeed, the post just above yours is from someone whose "rides are rarely under 100 miles." The limitation is the rider, not the PCX.
