Looking into a PCX150 and I have a couple questions.

Hey so I'm looking into this PCX and it says on the honda website that it can haul a passenger, I was in the dealership and saw on it that the max load is 346lbs. Is that really the max amount you can haul or is that just to cover honda incase a freak accident happens? Whats the most you guys have had on your PCX for weight? Does anyone have the 150? Whats the max MPH? If I can think of anything else I'll post it here. Appreciate the help! Thanks guys!

ive carried self, brother in law and tool bag weighing around 200kg all up which is 440lb. Bike was fine though I didnt go faster that 45mph due to the speed limit. With just myself on it I get 67mph and thats a PCX125. So 150 should be a few mph more.

Wow really? 440 lbs on a 125 model? Seems like it'd be super sluggish on turning and such.

I haven't ridden one yet, but I'd be kinda shaky about putting more weight on the bike than it weighs (150 model weighs 286 pounds). Just seems like it would horribly throw off the center of gravity on the bike.

In places like Vietnam you often see a family of four and their shopping on one scooter and I think there are pics on this forum of some overloaded scooters and bikes. Just take it easy and make sure you brief your pillion to lean slightly into the turns and definately not the wrong way!

Strictly correct answer: No.
There's no benefit whatsoever to fitting larger tyres, the standard size is perfectly OK.

So is there any way of adjusting the rear suspension to stiffen the back of the scooter? Like preload or no? And I was just curious because the front tire on the scoot seemed really small.

The PCX suspension is not adjustable, there's no need it's a 60mph scooter not a Moto GP bike.
The tyres are plenty big enough, it's a 60mph scooter not a Moto GP bike.
I reckon the PCX tyres are actually wider than they really need to be.
Modern bike tyres are only as wide as they are because of fashion, not function.

You can purchase replacement aftermarket rear shocks that are adjustable for several hundred dollars but after a week or two you get used to the stock shocks and avoiding potholes etc!

So I purchased my 150 yesterday evening! Loved it so far, had it up to 55 with out much work. Whats a good iPhone app for gas eco, and having your speed and all that recorded?

A lot of people, myself included, use fuelly.com for gas econ. I think it just has a mobile site rather than app, but it's pretty good. To give you an idea of what to expect, I now have 700 miles on my PCX 150 and just gave it the first oil change (I recommend just letting the dealer do it). I've been averaging about 90mpg and I drive it mostly on highways, so average 55+. You're right that it gets up to 55 really nicely. I usually find that it gets up to 65 with a little more effort and then you pretty much run out of throttle before I can quite get to 70, unless I'm going downhill.

Regarding the fuel economy, I've been using premium gas (~93 or so) just for the sake of it. But last time I used slightly lower grade gas, rode for the first time with a passenger, and somehow got better than average mpg, so now I'm wondering if higher grade gas actually hurts fuel economy somehow. I'll keep you updated - obviously, it's hard to control for all the variables.

I use Fuelly, it works great.

Me, my fiancee, the dog, and a huge pack of camping gear worked fine, but we bottomed the suspension on a speed bump. That's 160 + 155 + 20 + ~30lbs = 350lbs total. I did hit the speedbump at speed though.

The rear suspension on the PCX is a bit lacking. I'm not saying it's terrible, it works quite well, but I would replace it if I had unlimited money to spend on frivolous things.

I am not sure if anyone is going to believe me, but on my 2nd tank of my 150 I was meticulous and exact on figuring this out...I got 105.9 mpg on regular gas (but I only weigh 160). Now I did really baby it because of the break in period. It will be interesting to see what happens as I get more miles and start pushing it harder.
