Hmm, odd. TC3, can you just keep it disabled then? Since it is client-side, and the server-side flag does nothing for me, it will just be something members have to comply to.

I'll have to think about the editing rule. Flaming is against the rules (I shouldn't even have to state that officially  ), but I still like the accountability that comes with noneditable posts. Like I said, you have 5 minutes or so to correct for spelling, etc. before it locks. Let me mull it over for a few days, then I'll make a decision on it.

I think the 5 minute edit is a good idea to be honest. Can't deny saying stuff that way.

5 mins to edit it for spelling is a good idea because my spelling is terrible.

i guess i misunderstood. i thought you had to wait 5 minutes to do the first edit. the other way is not so bad. however, the other friendly motorcycle forum i am no doesnt have problems with an open edit system. i dont think the problem that you had on that other non enthusiast run forum would be repeated here.

Any ideas to deal with spam? I usually get it quick, but there have been a couple messages that were up for several hours before I got to them.

I'd be inclined to make any and all posts containing links made by new members invisible to the public. Everyone who is logged in would see them and be able to reply or report/delete them, but anyone not logged in (and any web crawler) will not see them.

That ought to discourage the spammers.

I haven't been back, I don't really want anything to do with the site.

I might try to make all posts invisible, or force users to post in a specific forum before they are allowed to post elsewhere.

i think it is not so bad if it gets deleted within a few hours from a users perspective. probably 8 or so would be the maximum when you are sleeping. i am sure it'll never be days like that other site run by a business! once the site has been up for awhile and you start to trust some of the members, make some mods to help you delete the spam.

we were having a huge spam problem on another forum. recently there have been a lot of blog spammers. the admin added several new mods and the spam started getting deleted really fast. that seems to have discouraged the spammers and they seem to have gone elsewhere for now.

I'll probably promote a few mods eventually, but it is hard to justify doing so until things become more active. I generally get to spam within a few hours, but there have been a few occasions where it took me nearly 24 hours between post and ban.

How about a help wanted section for people to ask forum members for advice, know how, suggestions about anything related to the pcx or riding?

I'll start it by asking -

Has anyone has managed to get the fairing and headlight off? And if you have, what's the secret? I've got all the panels off except these and behind the steering/above the fuel.

I don't want to force anything and cause it to break.

Any help greatly appreciated :)

I figured that was what this forum, General, would be for... General questions about the PCX, maintenance, etc.

I haven't disassembled the front end yet, but I do know that once you get the windshield off, the next step is to gently pry off the black fairing underneath the windshield from the base.

As for the fuel cover, that one's relatively easy -- there is the big silver screw that is exposed, then two little black screws inside the fairing up above where the gas cap is. Remove those, then push the fairing up and towards the front of the bike. It should pop loose.

I agree that the question would be a great addition to the general forum. Let me know if you cant figure it out... I'll try to find some images of the manual I sent to another member on the old forum that shows you how to remove the front fairing. I also, have not had a reason to remove the front fairing... yet =]

Hi,

I got the fuel cover off OK, its parts 3, 5, 6, 22 & 21 on the Front Cover page of the parts diagram pdf I'm interested in, plus parts of the Inner Cover. Basically I want full access to the frame. I can probably do all I need to as the scooter is now, I've got all the other panels off.

I'll be going round to the local Honda dealer soon so I might see what they have to say.

All this effort is to get the scooter winter proof - I've found a few places where rust is beginning to show its self on the frame (around welds). I'll post some pics in the How To section when I've finished.

I've seen Cookie's post about Front Plastics - I'll keep watching :)
