Location! Location! Location!

:) Just Asking:

I've been thinking about this for awhile, perhaps you have too. I'm a believer that listing ones location (while registering or anytime shortly thereafter) has it's benefits. Like it has more pros than cons. Pros being we can help one another to a greater degree, and cons being privacy issues (with perhaps) a side of fear. Understood. We do know it's "Not" Mandatory to list one's location, and it probably never will be, but it certainly has it's advantages.
For instance: There will be times when we ask one another questions or even want recommendations to places to purchase items or dealers to service our scoot. Without "seeing your location" makes giving an informative answer sometimes impossible. Right? Scenario then is, You might get discouraged by not receiving an answer and choose to step away or worse not return. Or, you may receive a crazy/silly answer from a joker member, take it the wrong way, get offended then step away or worse not return. Understood, but at the same time, realize that the fault can lie just by Not Listing your Location.
Okay, how about this: We have many windscreen threads that run continuously with old and new members (even lurkers) reading, wondering then asking "where did you get/order yours?" Only to find out afterwards that it's a UK member asking a US member. Result: No "local" store help given. Sure, the Chit chat was fun but Location, sigh, none.

:P The Wrap:
To those that have Not listed their location, it is certainly your prerogative, but please reconsider. Many of us will try to help you as I believe we are a good lot on a Great forum(s). Guess I'm kinda asking to "Make it easy on yourself" and us. Let's Ride Together!

:D Notation:
(Me, myself & I + scoot2b, Promise we won't come over w/o invitation. So....you don't have to make the beds or dinner, or "pour that wine." I do solemnly swear ;)

Oh...& thanks for reading my spoken thoughts. :geek: Cheers!

Is usually easy to spot posters from the colonies, they use very weird language.

(sorry, couldn't resist)

And that cnut from Yorkshire stands out like a dangling cluster of arse grapes.

WhiteNoise, I agree with you on this one a 100%.
It makes it so much easier to talk about something when you know what part of the world someone is in.
.
The other nice thing is it can be fun to see where people call home.
Might be questions to ask about their area, etc.
Also might give MI5, Interpol, FBI, etc a heads up on where to find some PCX hoodlums that hang on this and other forums.

So on that note, what part of the Island do you hang your hat??
I did St James, Muttontown, Oyster Bay, while growing up. I also still have family in OB area.
.

Just in case I make my location sound or look like a great place to move to, I should inform you we have 8 months of winter, 2 months of poor sledding and 2 months of mosquitos. Other than that, it is a great place to visit.

> Sean, hmm...hang my hat? Moved back to L.I. After 15 yrs. in FL. Now in Suffolk county. Grew up in Nassau and hung at All those places (plus more) that you mentioned above. Oyster Bay being a favorite with friends. Now have those same friends living there with their families. Lovely place. My mom is in St. James now, a nursing home, not so nice. None are, imo. Muttontown, ou la, la! Love that area! Stunning! Sadly, Unaffordable. Wait! I could do it as a servant! Or Stablemate! When there's a will, there's a way.
I Love being out East the best. Riverhead, The Hamptons, Montauk, etc. If I stay on the Island, I want to move further in that direction. The traffic has changed so much everywhere since "I've Been Gone!" Can't stand it. I'm a bit intimidated by the congestion (age thing) > Don't!.....Ask!

Do you know where Suffolk gets it's name from? The English County that is.

2yous lesson of the day ;)
According to Wikipedia: (you didn't really think I knew this :ugeek: )
"Suffolk County was an original county of the Province of N.Y. one of twelve counties created in 1683. From 1664 until 1683 it had been the East Riding of Yorkshire."

Look at That, Will ya! The word Riding is among them! I'm living in the right place!
Thank ye!

Location is also very important should someone on the Forum ever want to meet up with others in that area.
Also, while on vacation trips forum members could possibly meet each other.
And finally, if a forum member were looking at a scoot on Craigslist, EBay, etc., it would be helpful to call
on a fellow scooter friend who lives in that area to take a look at the scoot for you.

Just ideas. Ideas are free.

I'M BACK o_O

It dawned on me this morning that maybe, just maybe folks Aren't listing their Locations because they don't know how. So, instead of 'me' coming off all business like, I will try to clear the confusion in your PCX heads (hmm...I did say "try" )

Here's "How To" enter your Location (and preferably "right after" You read this :D )

Where On Earth! Are You?

1) If you're not logged in, Log In
2) Then in the upper right, click "User Control Panel"
3) In the Left Column click "Profile"
4) Bingo! Look to the right. Here you can add/change or remove your profile information. See Location?
5) When you're done "Profiling," click the submit button below (on that screen)
6) Another screen will appear and you'll have the choice to return to the control panel or just click the "Board Index" button (top left).

Now Go have FUN, ask away! Now we know Where on Earth You're Coming From!
One puzzle Solved ;)

Possibly the first thing i did when joining the forum. As it's an international crowd it's handy to know where someone is from. For me i was looking as some parts that people recommend from certain sites. from seeing the persons location i knew to look for the posters within the UK like me! :)

Made this a STICKY because WhiteNoise is totally right, your location is essential. There are minor differences per region on each PCX model depending on your location, and you'll get completely different advice on service, legality of modifications, insurance, etc. depending on your location. So... To reiterate...
