Heaven on Earth

One of the things that has bugged me for a while is trying to reach down and hit the center button of the remote for the garage door - through gloves - in the dark - when I get home. So today I bought a small plastic box, 2 lithium batteries, battery holder, momentary switch, and some wire. Modded the existing remote by adding a couple of wires to go to the external switch and use the external power - popped it all securely inside the box - mounted the box behind the grill - mounted the switch next to the right grip - and ...

Heaven on earth. No more fumbling in the dark - one less thing to carry around on my keyset.

My only regret is not doing it sooner.

Thats a great idea, does the momentary switch get locked out when the scoot is shut down?

No - no need. It's either in the garage, or parked so far away from the garage that it wouldn't work anyway.

I was originally going to wire it so it applied battery power when the lights were put on full beam, but the dealer mechanic spliced it into the wrong wires and it activated as soon at the ignition was turned on.

That works, I'll look for the spare garage remote. New project. :)

Great idea. If it works, and it obviously does, that is really all that matters.

That was my thought too. The small plastic box hides all the "evils", although conceptually, all one really needs to do it attach a pair of thin wires to simulate a button push and run them to a switch somewhere; the button batteries last forever (although I went a step further and used a couple of lithium AA batteries is a separate holder) (all in the box).

There's a ton of room behind the grill on a PCX to hide things like that.

Sorry, but I didn't take any :(

Not a lot to see really anyway; just imagine a small plastic box big with the remote and a couple of AA batteries in a holder in it, attached to the frame inside the nose using velcro and zip ties - then a thin wire run up to the outside - attached to a switch.

I've also ordered a switch from AliExpress, but this one is looking pretty good for now, so I may just keep it on.

by you you
That isn't a bad idea at all....

You can get spare cloning remotes from gearbest or banggood if you don't want to mess with your original remote.

For what it's worth, this is the switch I ordered from AliExpress.

Damn the expense - it'll be worth it!

I have one similar to that. I use it for my spot lights. I bought it on Amazon.
