App for active rain notification...

Post by homie »

Okay since there is nothing new under the sun this is what I want.

An app with a customized ringtone or alert in settings that audibly notifies me from my phone any ACTIVE rainfall in my travel direction or bearing down on my position with programmable range detection for motorcyclist and outdoor enthusiasts... WHERE?

Never get the bike wet again... PLEASE!

I know that they exist, but I just use Tempest Free, the best radar app (Android only?), mixed with the precipitation chart from Weather Underground for a better picture of the weather more than a few hours out.

And if you're really fancy, you can use Windity to track the changing velocity of wind.

I refuse to leave my GPS on all day, when I can just download some radar maps and precipitation estimates over time every few hours or so. But that's just me...

Mel does that app ping you when rain is eminent? Without pulling over and accessing your phone? Ideally I want to open the app shove the phone in my pocket blue toothed to Sena and get a custom tone when ACTIVE rain ahead.

^^ ohhhh that would be hyper cool!

Ping ping....this is Carla, heavy rain falls approximately 1.5 miles ahead.
Make a huey and head back to clearer skies. That would be approxiamately 2 feet behind you.
Enjoy your day homie.
Keeping you safe, xox Carla

Unfortunately I am getting pings for every kind of weather change, everywhere. I recently was pinged because of a tropical storm forming in the Pacific! Hello, Weather Channel?? I DON'T LIVE BY THE PACIFIC OCEAN!! Check your geography. Georgia is on the OTHER ocean.

The current weather apps are not going to be capable of delivering exactly what motorcyclist would want but the technology is there and the filters to do so if they wanted to accommodate us. It sure would be nice :D

It appears that the Weather Underground app did tell me that it was going to rain earlier this morning. But it was perhaps 4 or 5 hours too early of a prediction.

I totally forgot my phone already does this. :) Just don't really believe what it says.
