Coolant Question

Post by mrdtrotter »

Evening all,

Not being mechanically minded and after wading through different information, could someone advise if this stuff is ok for topping up my coolant level if not perhaps point me in the right direction for the correct stuff?

Thank you

I believe no, PCX and aluminium engines do not like silicate based coolant. Search google for pcx coolant, find's loads of ref's on this forum (oftne easier than using the search which does not like short words)

Yes, the Honda coolant will be fine, but pricey. Any non-silicate coolant will do.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Castrol-178456 ... ol+coolant
The one a Honda dealer sells for use with the PCX and available everywhere for about £9.

What about those of us in the US?

None of those sellers listed ship to the US.

Nothing like this comes up on US searches.
I found something to put here.

glycol ethylene or propylene low silicate antifreeze
pretty common stuff
just stay away from dex-cool -oat coolants
might not mix
keywords are gylcol low silicate

Thanks very much for all the help, I have ordered the Honda one just cause it says Honda, it'll sit in the workshop and all get used in the end. So I am obviously planning on dumping out my current coolant and replacing it with some fresh stuff. Any tips & tricks from anyone that has done their PCX coolant or any similar bikes that might benefit me before tackling this for the first time?
