Malfunctioning Gas Guage PCX125

Post by logepoge1 »

SO my scooter has shown 1 bar for past 20 miles. Today i went to fill it up and it broke down halfway there. So walked to nearest gas station which had apparently closed just a few weeks ago. So then I had to lock the steering, and walk 30 minutes to my class where I arrives 15 minutes late. The guage never dropped below 1 bar. Normally it will show no bars for awhile. Any fixes? Warranty still covers it but they can never understand what I am talking about. Almost tempted to drive 45 minutes to a different dealership. Coming up on 2500 mile service. Only 80 miles away. Im hoping it doesnt get stolen while im in class. Any idea as to the cause of this problem?

Sounds like the fuel level sensor malfunctioned.

Yeah. And I had dress pants, shoes, and shirt on to give presentation in my engineering class. It was about a 15 minute walk to my car and then 10 minute drive to class. This made me about 10 minutes late. Usually the gas gauge will not show any bars when it gets low though

I've never known it to disappear, and I've had two 5,9L-fillups so far..

I don't know why it didn't flash before BUT the last bar flashes to notify you that your on reserve. This is as low as your gauge can read. So maybe you were just riding through the reserve before?

FYI I'm also working on an engineering degree. :) doing statics now...

The fuel gauge is not very reliable, when it is in half, I know there is about 1/3 of fuel and then it goes down fast. Therefore I use trip meter to measure, I know I can do safely 200 km per tank. My record is 214: https://www.spritmonitor.de/en/detail/569523.html

I'm working on an associates in engineering technology with a focus in civil.

The reserve portion of the tank is around .3 gallons. It's actually rather large considering the size of the tank.

And do you have to do the engineering first year program as well? We had a fishtank project thing and apparently several other colleges do this curriculum too

Basically it's a system that keeps the salinity in a certain range and temperature in a certain range. Using arduino. It is extremely irritating

Interesting classes. I'm a retired computer engineer. When I went to college I started out in Electrical Engineering but had a motorcycle accident half way through and had to change to my minor, Computer Science. Graduated a double major...kind of kept my engineering grades up by taking English courses, which I could sleep in and still get an A in. Finished college with a 3.0 GPA. Good job prospects for engineers. Hard to find good engineers now. The company I retired from was hiring engineers straight out of college, only the top students of course, for $50K per year starting salary. The USA is well behind the world on good engineers.
