New PCX150 not taking off smoothly - clutch problem?

Post by Judokrab »

The bike is about six months old. I've had it since new and it frequently has this problem: When accelerating from zero, it lurches as if the clutch is grabbing, several times, then after the speed reaches perhaps 15kph it is OK. Any advice? I have spoken to the a few times and they just say to keep running it in and see how it goes.

Thanks,
David

If the bike is still under warranty and the dealer won't do anything about it the either use another dealer that will fix it or don't accept the dealer your using excuses for not fixing it and keep at them. They get paid for fixing it by Honda so I don't see a reason why they don't want to.

Lurching is abnormal and unsafe. That sounds like a final drive issue, likely the clutch as Alibally said. My guess is something sheared inside it. Some shuddering noise is normal from the drivetrain on takeoff or at low RPMs during acceleration, but an inconsistency in power indicates something seriously wrong with the drivetrain.

If the bike is under 6 months old, a Honda dealership should be able to fix the issue for free for you under warranty. Take it in ASAP.
