Knock-off Tires/Tyres

Post by kramnala58 »

Thailand is known for its knock-off /counterfeit / fake market, but I never thought I would see something like this. It was at a "big bike" show at a local mall this weekend. It is a custom bike from a local Bangkok shop.

That's pretty funny. And that's an Honda Rebel/CMX, for those wondering.

They really add f*** to everything in Asia don't they  Is it done out of sheer humor or does it have an alternate meaning in translation?

It's urban meaning is derived from the type of grave stone known as a "Table Tomb". ;)

I believe it is done out of humour. But I think it also says something about the English speaking world. For most in Asia, English is not their first language. As such, what they learn is from us native English speakers. I tend to believe that because we use words like the F-bomb so frequently, they perceive it not to be vulgar or inappropriate in most situations.

Lucky they don't listen to British or Australians, otherwise they'd be calling them C'stones...
