Film recommendation

Post by gn2 »

If you have access to Netflix, I can recommend the documentary "Saving Capitalism", I've just finished watching it and found it very interesting.

Please confine any responses to simply whether you liked it or not..... ;)

When I watch Netflix I binge watch. The latest was "Stranger Things"...and "Stranger Things 2"...and "Sense8", which ran it's course but left us hanging, but they are making a finale at some point.

Oh, and I love those British detective series like "Midsomer Murders" and "Hinterland"...and all sorts of others.
We watch very little "regular" tv any more.

I wasn't aware that there was a film! o_O

I've read Robert Reich's book "Saving Capitalism," and found it compelling and fascinating. I'll watch the film and let you know if I liked it as much.

Confining responses is a good idea as the subject matter could provoke considerable debate! ;)

Is there an area in Netflix that has documentaries...I am guessing that film would be under that group. I haven't heard of it but may watch it out of curiosity now.

Yes, there is a documentaries section. You can also use the search tool and it will bring it up for you.

It's a pretty interesting documentary but I fundamentally disagree with the guy. I feel like it would be unfair of me to judge it. People should see it and make up their own mind.

Got me.. In my view a society needs to be regulated ?? .. I say capitalism is without a doubt the default position for a society to take in order to reach its most highest potential. I also say its like a fulcrum or see saw where capitalism is on one side and socialism is on the other side. Once that even center balance is altered or tilted one way or the other there will be a need for modulation to correct the imbalance back to center. That I believe is the crux of the matter. A good working government will keep that see saw level .????????? Good luck with that !Unfortunately greed and corruption will always prevail in the human mantra hence keeping that see saw imbalanced.. once it gets close to or hits ground violence and /or war is inevitable. Good day !

What bit of "Please confine any responses to simply whether you liked it or not" did you not get...?

You do know that discussion of politics is banned and you likely just got this thread shut down?

Sorry, thought I was commenting on two social and economic systems used worldwide .Didn't think I was referencing any political party as such.

I liked the picture, it's a perfect example of a blue tit. It's song in my opinion is the best out there, with the reply call from it's mate providing a soronous counterpoint....uh sorry I like the bird. In actual fact my favourite part of the bible is where Noah receives the olive branch from the dove... argh now I've bought religion into it. Sorry people

Having read the book, I wonder if watching the film will tell me any more than I think I know.

I did have an idle thought to look for it on Netflix as I had last night to myself.

Unfortunately, "Guardians of the Galaxy II," caught my eye in the DVD cabinet before I could search. :)

The more things change the more they stay the same. . .hence the proverbial "Class Struggle". Always has been and always will be. Democracy allows a playing field for those who want to participate. May the best win. . .which basically reminds us if we aren't part of the solution we are part of the problem. Just look at the voting statistics. What goes around comes around. Always a fan of Reich! ;)
