Those 4wd 3cly subies were so light and the 4wd so good, they could not get stuck in the snow.

While not my dream car by any means,
Had a twin to this one (3dr RX) back when they were new and when 110 turbo HP was enough:

I've driven a Bentley Flying Spurr, it was awesome, but not $220k awesome. Also driven the new Viper, C7 Vette, a GT-R but my dream car? Probably a Cadillac CTS-V Wagon, E63 AMG wagon or an E39 or E60 BMW M5 wagon (notice a trend?)

I'll stick with my old Porsche 944 that I paid $1800 for. It gets 26 mpg at 85mph and 22 at 115... At least that's what I'm told ;D

I have a question to contemplate. If the VW XL1 can get 260 mpg, why can't VW take what they have learned from building it and apply those to more fuel efficient production cars? Wouldn't it make more sense to have 100,000 cars that get 100 mpg than 1 car that gets 260 mpg? After all, even if the XL1 goes into production it will not appeal to a large audience. But a VW Beetle with a turbo diesel that gets 100 mpg could become a standard for many drivers in places like Europe, and even here in the U.S., where we are starting to feel the pinch of high fuel costs.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Because Carbon Fiber is costly, not to mention the XL1 gets 260mpg because its essentially a diesel electrc scooter with two seats and a cage. The 0-60 in 11.5-seconds is dangerously slow for most highway commuting, hell you can't even merge safely with something that slow nowadays.

They do have 99MPG capable Audi A2s (imperial cycle) TDIs, but they are so god awfully slow and would never sell in the US. Americans want amenities and safe vehicles to combat massive SUVs, yes a CRX was able to get 40MPG back in the late 80s, but if you crash it head on with a modern compact car, it would turn into a metal scrap cube. I don't really feel the fuel pinch here, gas prices are almost down to $3 a gallon. It was $3.18 last I checked, and thats in WA where we have added fuel taxes.

A man after my own heart

I generally have two cars because of the mileage I do. I need a spare really. I buy a new cheap car and run it into the ground

But for the second car I like to buy something that was silly expensive and is now silly cheap.

Looking for a decent Bentley turbo r at the moment. £8k with less than 26k on the clock!! Put aside another £2k to replace consumables and tidy up the mechanicals. Cheaper than a fiesta

It's the labor that makes expensive cars costly. Our local porsche dealer in town charges a new walkin customer $275/hr flat rate.

Not sure, but I think it's called the McTest. In theory one needs to compare the price of a McDonalds Big-Mc burger across the world in relation to the fuel price. This will determine if the fuel pricing in your respective countries are in line with others? Anyone else know about this and the correct interpretation?
