At last, new Burgervan 400

Suzuki have at long last done a refresh on the Burgman 400.

Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Nice. Did they finally change the size of the rear tire as Well? The new one has a bigger front tire, which is good. On the old one the rear tire was little, something like 12 inches.

A few highlights:
1) ABS, standard
2) LED lighting all around
3) Seat height raised to 29.5 but the Floorboards were narrowed (to help touch down)
4) Front wheel 15" (was 14")
5) Rear wheel remains the same (13")

Not sure if the newly fashioned Burger will make it to the U.S. :(
Those rear turn signals...They're imbedded and placed too close together. To meet U.S. Federal Regulations they may have to add some FUGLY rear turn signal Stalks. Arg! Here we go again

I have never seen a white Burgman 400. It looks so much nicer in white. Aside from the rear turn signal problem there is one change that I definitely do not like...a monoshock instead of two shocks.

There have been white ABS equipped Burgman 400s here for a few years now, they look nice in white.

In the United States they only offered gray. A change in color would be nice.

The new Burg does lose 20 litres of storage space.

Personally I recently purchased a second hand Burg 400 with only 2500 miles on the clock, currently evaluating the MPG which is a little lower than I expected but that is probably due to this cold weather and the short journeys and also the odd fuel gauge which I'll get a better idea after this tank of fuel.

Which is a big part of why I won't be buying one.

It reminds me of the old Tmax 500, but with normal mirrors.
If it has the legroom, it looks nice enough.
But in usual Australian fashion, we probably won't get it...

Burgman has had a mono shock for years.

The side profile definitely looks sportier like the 200.

I do have a few oddities I'm trying to resolve with the Burg 400, the first being that while the fuel use is a little high 12.5mpl, which is probably due to cold weather and getting used to the burg, the fuel gauge seems be behaving very oddly. In essence at the 1/2 tank mark I had only covered 36.2 miles, at the 1/4 tank left mark I had only covered 68.2 miles.

The other thing is the way the headlights work, so on low beam only the left light comes on (right side looking at it front on) and on high beam the right light comes on (left side looking at it front on) with the low beam still on the left side (right side looking at it front on) however I noticed that only one filament of the two in that high beam bulb is ever on.

Like a lot of twin headlight motorcycles and maxi scooters the older Burgman 400's lit only one side. Newer Burgmans run with both headlights always lit - low or high beams. This gives really good night vision for the rider! Like my Forza.
Somewhat like the Forza - the gas gauge on my newer Burgman doesn't move much until you've ridden a few dozen miles.

Mine is a 2013/2014 model but is a UK version so I believe is a different setup, still seems odd one filament on highbeam side never appears to come on. I wish the fuel gauge moved slowly but making it to half tank with only 36.2 miles covered it moves kind of fast.

Fuel gauges on bikes and scooters have always been for decorative purposes, trip meters are there for a reason.....

Yeah although this time at half tank I was on 53 miles, perhaps sitting around a while hasn't helped. A picture of my dirty Burgman 400ZA:
