Repaired a Piaggio BV250

Post by honkerman »

I have one thing I need to do with it yet, mess about with the CVT (which seems to work fine but rattles a bit), but I finally finished the exterior bits on my Piaggio BV250 and am about ready to sell it (just need to get it inspected).

I replaced the tires, regreased the steering stem bearings, and replaced a lower body panel. It also had no windscreen and as I could not find the Piaggio screen, I just put a slipstreamer scoot 40 on it. Not bad really.

Rides nice and that big honkin seat is cushy.

Tempted to just keep it, but the wife would hit the roof.

Keep it and sell the PCX.
You get to ride a far better scooter than the PCX and the wife doesn't damage the ceiling.
Everyone happy.
I'm liking the S-type, is it yours?

That is Penelope and she is indeed an S-Type. 2002 in "seafrost". She currently needs a bit of work, but, she's an older Jag, so that probably goes without saying.

As for selling the PCX, I like the Piaggio, but I like the PCX better. Plus, the PCX is newer and lower mileage and easier to get parts for.

Heheh, indeed.

Thankfully parking is much easier due to the reversing beepers. 8)

Thank you most kindly,

She gets compliments wherever she goes. The color is eye catching and those classic looks just don't get old.

They had to put the steering wheel on the left so it can be driven on the correct side of the road! ;)

I had one until some daft bint drove across its nose.

I know, I know. If I'd been wearing fluorescents I would have been ok.

Got a plate and insurance on the Beverly. It runs. Wow does it run. Fantastic scooter. I ran around for about 45 minutes on it. Absolutely lovely. Will have it inspected tomorrow.

See my ride thread though. It's a fantastic ride, it just doesn't fit me. It's huge compared to the PCX

Nice job on the Beverly! It's a beauty 8)

Our PCX's definitely have their advantages, and many of us appreciate them. I just wish Honda would have made a 200cc model right from the start. Instead, they slow-poke it up the cc ladder.

Paul I read your blog, I'm glad the choosing was fairly easy for you. Sometimes it's not. You recognized their differences, and your compatibility with one. You will be buddy to your Onyx-PCX :P

(Hmm...Buddy, sounds familiar. A Cool name. Sounds Genuine, right? ;)

There's plenty of joy in the PCX. It fits me. The Beverly is nice but it's just too big for me. I feel like an umpaloompa riding it, except I'm not orange.

Discovered something about the Shinko tires I put on the Beverly. They're great on dry roads. Wet is an entirely different subject. Only squiggled a bit, but until I sell it, I know which scooter I'll be riding in the rain.

Any chinesey sounding tyre brands are usually lethal in the wet.

I had some sort of Chinese made tires on my Kymco and they were fine in all weather, but they also had more of a dual-sport style tread. I was warned that the Shinkos wouldn't be great in the wet but thought I'd test them anyway to get a feel for just how bad they are. So, now I know and I will pass the info on to the new owner when I sell it.
