Anyone else have a Ruckus in addition to their PCX or Forza?

Post by MKE PCX »

I picked up a 2014 Honda Ruckus at the beginning of the month and have been working on making it my own and fixing the previous owners mistakes.

I bought the Ruckus to go where my PCX can't (shouldn't is a better word since the PCX hasn't ever gotten stuck). I'm really enjoying having something that can handle the dirt and grass.

Just curious if there are any other Ruckus owners here. I'm a member on Totalruckus as well but I'm finding that site is best in small doses, whereas there seems to be more maturity here.

Pics to follow once I get it put back together.

I have a 50cc little Ruckus as well as a 250cc big Ruckus. Each bike serves a different need. Its good to have more than 1 bike.

Indeed! There are members on our forums that have a Ruckus' among us. Both the "Big" and the "Small."
I've always regretted not buying the last year of the Big Ruckus (2006 in North America).
It was brand new on the floor. I hemmed and hawed over it for an hour then turned around and bought a 2007 Piaggio MP3 sitting nearby. Kind of extreme.

:P Have FUN with your new 2014 Toy! (Please Think Safety, while making changes)

I couldn't agree more. I'm always looking to add another bike to the stable.

I've got my eye on the Africa Twin and I'm still hoping to snag a deal on a leftover Forza. Unfortunately, those bikes are a bit more expensive than the Ruck or the PCX, so it's going to be a while before I get my hands on them.

I'm super jealous of your Big Ruckus. I've only seen one in person and I've never found one for sale when I've got the spare cash. Someday though, I WILL own one.

Having an inner-child is great. I'm a big goof myself but when we have technical questions, responses from our "inner 13-year-olds" aren't very helpful.

No worries there. There'll be no fat tires or stretch kits on this Ruckus.

As far as mods, I'm pretty much done. The list includes:

Trail Tech Vapor Speedo & Tach
Lowered Stock Seat Frame
PWJDM Pegs
MNNTHBX SP Exhaust
MNNTHBX Intake
Posh Racing Coil w/NGK wire
Kitaco CDI
Polini Variator with Dr. Pulley sliders
Polini Clutch (will probably be reverting back to stock but need to do more testing first - it came with the bike)

I just wanted to be comfortable and able to hold 45 mph on the flats despite my 6ft, 200lb frame. I haven't changed the stock lighting like so many in the Ruckus scene seem to - I like the look of the LED under-seat light, but it's tiny compared to the factory setup.

The only mods I could see doing still are upgrading the shocks and forks to something that can better handle my weight. I don't want to lower the Ruckus any though, so my suspension options seem limited.

Leave it. You'll have a few to go through. Me first.

Nah, I just think of you like the old, drunken curmudgeon who lived at the end of my street as child. Yes, he was frequently unpleasant but sometimes it's just good fun to poke the bear. He claimed to hate us but secretly I think chasing us off, beer in hand, was the highlight of his day.
