I just got to try a friends BMW with DCT and it was actually really fun, the torque was a little lacking in the shift but if im not mistaken i think thats the whole point. The last thing you want is the bike doing a wheelie just because you had too much torque upon upshift with no handclutch.
I'd also agree that the dual clutch system with syncronizers will likely never be as reliable as a single manual clutch. But for what it is, its pretty cool.
Its like a car sequential manual gearbox for motos.

What BMW was that?

Very nice photos and scenery. It is important to keep the women happy like she seems to be.

One of our buddies has a BMW GS800. It has had some mechanical troubles.

I just got back from the state of Wisconsin for the Mother's Day holiday and did a lot of riding up there on A Kymco Scooter.

Ha. The woman wasn't impressed with my cautious riding at all. She kept wanting me to go faster, lean more and overtake everyone. I'd rather stay alive :p. I told her that it may be better to get her own bike. She told me I'd have to pay for it then.

How are you enjoying the NC750XD?
I just pranged my PCX, frame bent, and thinking of up-sizing to a NC750XD.

Today the sales manager at my local Honda dealer (cars and cycles) said they need to get rid of the NC700s in the US until they put the 750 engines in them like the rest of the world. That was pretty telling.

Congrats, looks like a good choice. And the bike isn't bad either ;-)

I love my PCX and would not change for what I use it - commuting and riding around town. However I have a regrowing appetite for bike touring. I am looking for something what I bring to moderate gravel roads but it is like 80% road and 20 light off road. I travel without external support, so traditional dual sports (like drz400 or crf L series) don't count.
A gs700/800 and NC750 and CB500X with the Rally Raid kit came to mind.

Did you have the chance to test the bimmer also? If price difference and prestige of the badge would not be the deciding factor, would you go again for the NC?

Having ridden an NC700X and an NC750S the difference between te two engines is remarkable.
The 750 is a far superior unit in so many ways.
I would counsel against buying a 700 no matter how cheap they get.

75 cc's and 6 hp more for the 750. My dealer gave away the two NC700's they had for $6,000.

And an effective balancer and more torque and better fuel injection.
The 750 is significantly smoother and feels much more refined.

My older long retired buddy fell in love with a CTX700 all manual. He already owns a Grom. I actually give it a test spin too and was shocked how smooth, nimble, and comfortable it was. It is a new 2014 red with the fairings and at a significant discount. He is hoping to pay about $4500 USD plus 200 fees (excluding taxes). It doesn't have torque like my V-Strom but it fits him perfectly.

I laughed when our buddy (the Honda salesman) told us what CTX stands for.

After 4 years I may still recommend the DCT. Riding my 2012 model without any issues. Good reliability. However, I still miss my previous 2010 PCX, although it does not compare to the NC700X. But it was fun to ride.
