Have a look at what you get for £5000 in a motorcycle format these days, not a lot.
At least it's a proper scooter and not a scooter dressed in motorbike clothing...

There are some cracking bikes out there for £2k never mind £5k

Early low mileage GSXR1000 for me please

There are some excellent scooters for that price too, but we're talking about new prices.
A GSXR is completely impractical, a toy for the track and short runs on sunny Sundays which is why the mileages on used ones are typically so low.
What's the point of a fire breathing 180mph spurt bike when the speed limit is 70mph?

We weren't talking about new prices. You might have been.

You're very free with your opinion wrapped up as fact. A GSXR isn't really completly impracticable to most people that aren't you.

Following your own personal irefutable logic (sic) what is the point of anything that does over 70mph including the x10?

I don't think there's any point in going over 70, but I'm also one of the only ones on this site who aren't frustrated with the low top speed of the PCX.

It's all about tastes. GN2's entitled to his opinion. I think it's gorgeous, but I'd buy a Vespa for that price...
Currently ride: 2011 Honda PCX 125 - Upgraded windshield and seat, keeping this one mostly stock
Previously rides: 2005 V-Strom DL650, 1974 Vespa Ciao, 2011 Honda PCX 170 (tons of mods - takegawa 170cc big bore kit, gears, etc), 1996 Honda Nighthawk 250, 1987 Honda Spree, 2000 KTM 125SX, 2003 Honda Silverwing, 2007 Genuine Buddy 125, 1998 Honda PC800, 2008 Buddy 125 (white), 2008 Buddy 125 (red), 2001 Honda Reflex, 1987 Honda Elite, 1988 Honda Spree, 2007 Yamaha Vino, 2007 Honda Metro, 2x 125cc pure-chinesium dirt bikes

To be capable of sustaining 70mph two up with luggage uphill, it needs to be capable of more than 70mph. It does not need to be capable of 180mph.
As far as I'm concerned, and this is strictly my opinion you understand, anyone who thinks a modern sportbike is practical transport suited to todays road environment is just plain deluded.
My opinion is formed from more than three decades of experience riding all sorts of motorcycles over hundreds of thousands of miles in the UK and abroad.
If you don't agree that's fine but I would point out that 46% of UK PTW sales are scooters and the number of new sportbike sales is substantially less.

Its the same world you're in.
Spurtbikes are in decline and scooters are on the up.
And that's a documented fact.

Bike, scooter, two wheels and an engine, leans in corners, same thing really.
So long as you enjoy it eff all else matters.

Lust

Post by Alibally »

I'm just back from Corfu and the scooter population over there is massive. Didn't see any sports bikes , just a few motos and crossers. Everyone is mad on them as well. Saw a bike 2 up and the pillion was holding a suitcase. Flip flops and shorts seem to be all the nutters wear as well.
