Re: Strange sound from the vario
As I intended to swap the belt, rollers, etc at about every 18,000 - 20,000 kilos anyway Book says 24,000 for belt off memory, and I suspect most will go well beyond that (mine is currently at 32,000 - has cracks on the inside, but there's no depth to them and that's not a particularly structural p...

Re: Strange sound from the vario
Someone mentioned the colour had changed, black/blue or such for some circular bit, if so it seems more than just a grease issue. Could well be - they have 2 different manufacturers of one of the bearings listed - at very different prices. Here in Japan for the (2015 LED) KF18 (chassis number) mode...

Re: Strange sound from the vario
Wondering whether mine has the same supposed issue, I recorded the video/sound of me spinning the back wheel slowly while the bike is still full assembled. Not sure if this is useful, but for reference. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2_ec2Tjw3V6ZUVlR0drRFRycVU Can post a video of the sound of i...

Re: 2015 PCX Valve Clearance Adustment
In review I note there was no reason to remove the crank case cover on the left side. I assume it was to place a socket and turn the crank shaft for timing and I used my thumb on the fins instead (one person method). Also you could remove the body panels without removing the luggage bucket if you k...

Re: Strange sound from the vario
I have over the last few days, since seeing this thread, learned that this problem is not uncommon. One page suggests that about 1 in 5 PCX scooters suffers this. I looked originally at this thread as mine has made a sort of whirring noise / slight whistle / almost turbo-dump-valve like noise from t...

Re: Power loss, speed loss and high fuel consumption.
If it has been sitting for some time and has a carb, clean the carb and put additive in the gas tank. How old is the gas that is in It? You may need to remove the old gas and add new gas after cleaning the carburetor with some carb cleaner. The additives in gas start separating after a while of sit...

Re: Power loss, speed loss and high fuel consumption.
Should go straight to simple compression test. You can eliminate rings and valves right off. OK thanks. Not used any more. Sits under a cover on my drive but I would like to have it right. Only 33,000 kilo / 20,00 mile on it, with very frequent oil changes at about every 3,000 kilo, so likely not a...

Re: Strange sound from the vario
Here is a great video-tutorial for how to change these bearings... Peace of cake wit the right tools  COU7DjJnxfc Having taken off the old bearings, he looked at them and said that he could not see anything obviously wrong with them, but that it seemed that the grease had come off them, and he...

Re: Power loss, speed loss and high fuel consumption.
Crank case breather hose is clean.
Spark plug is not fouled.
Air filter is clean.
It seems that 'engine conditioner' does not clean throttle valves, though.

Power loss, speed loss and high fuel consumption.
This question is about my other scooter, not my PCX. Can I ask it here? If not, sorry, I guess an admin will move this. I have the three problems stated in the title. (2008 Suzuki Address V125G Japan model) Changed CVT belt/rollers 8,000 kilometers ago, at 26,000 kilometers. Changed spark plug, oil ...

Re: What do YOU set valve clearances to?
Once the locking nut is loosened, what tool / method would you use to actually turn the tiny little head of the valve assembly? It's a tiny little square-shaped thing. Pliers? Finger tips? Thank you. Finger tips are fine, pliers are fine. Just be gentle, they're tiny little parts. ;) Right, thanks....

Re: What do YOU set valve clearances to?
I wrote a thread for the dismantling of the PCX and the valve clearances. However, my valves did not need adjusting, so I put it all back together. Lovely. However, as they did not need adjusting, I did not loosen the nuts to adjust them. I was happy about that, as I could not see how I would have a...

Re: How-To: Oil Change For Honda PCX
Thought I'd place these two fluid extractor's here, well....because it seems the proper place :D (I re-use some of the extracted oil to clean tools, gardening equipment, and other misc doo-dads). I own and have used this for oil removal: https://www.lowes.com/pd/LiquiVac-Oil-Change-System/1016407 i...

Re: How-To: Oil Change For Honda PCX
Just a heads-up. The manual says that the bike wants 800ml with a regular oil change and 900ml if the strainer is removed for cleaning. Having just done mine, I saw no oil at all coming out of the strainer housing after draining the oil as normal. So before you go ahead and put in 900ml after an oil...

Step 26, is that red loctite on the bolt? It might be. I don't know. I did not put any on before re-assembly, and I do not remember the book saying that I should. I can check the book for you, though. I would have thought a little locktite on a brake-arm bolt would be wise, but it does not seem to ...

Here is the promised public link to the PDF on my Google Drive. To keep the file size down, I had to size the images as 96 dpi (I think that's the phrase?), but they look O.K. on-screen. I hope it prints O.K. (I don't have a printer so I don't know.) Link. Enjoy... at your own risk. https://drive.go...
