Re: Dasshreddar's PCX/Ruckus Hybrid

I have to explain myself the above bike is a concept not very practical I agree not done by myself-but another this forum about making a PCX that looks like it has teeth Dass has gone along way to achieve that and you you the motor is a 450 double overhead cam a dog that had teeth Let's just agree ...

Re: Dasshreddar's PCX/Ruckus Hybrid

Dasshreddar -- I don't hate it. The rat bike aesthetic isn't for everyone. I've seen some ratted motorcycles that I love, and I was a big fan of the late lamented (some say lamentable) Big Ruckus. A Ruckus 150 might have swayed me away from the PCX, if it existed. Keep working at it (ratters are for...

Re: GIVI B360 on my PCX

DR, have you looked at windshields for your scoot? Mine is also a 2015 (in winter storage, sadly) and it seems that the mounting changed for the 2015 model year. National Cycle has a sturdy-looking shield, but the comments I have read here seem to indicate that it fits up to 2014, but not 2015. The ...

Re: GIVI B360 on my PCX

Are those red sections on the case lights, and if so, are they easy to wire in? Does it seem durable, able to hold a heavy load of groceries?

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

I own a 2001 Honda Goldwing and wanted something smaller to throw on the back of my RV. I decided on the PCX 150 and it fits just fine on a bumper hitch. I just took it to Stone Mountain, Georgia from Florida and I had something to get around on while at the campground. It worked out perfect! If on...

Wow, what a great video -- if I ever make it to Greece, I'm going to rent a scooter and head to the mountains right after I tour the Parthenon. Thank you!

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

woah. Those are pretty bikes. Nice work. You are too kind -- they were a bit on the amateur side, but I learned a lot about engines -- how they work and how to maintain them. What's the best shop manual for the PCX? I don't see it listed in Haynes or any other aftermarket manual publisher's lists. ...

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

The old 550s -- found as piles of parts, put into riding condition (more or less) and enjoyed for five seasons. Now in the hands of a family with two teenage sons, for further customization and who-knows-what. Most weeks I spent more time working on them than riding. The PCX will reverse that situat...

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

Hi db22, I can feel your pain- having to wait for nice April weather to get the scooter out, but 35 miles for your commute will give you a lot of time to ride. Interesting to see that you bought a black PCX- I thought they don't sell that color in the US. Best regards, Klaus Vielen Dank! Yes, it's ...

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

Welcome db22 to the peace of mind of riding a scooter. My last bike was a ΥΑΜΑΗΑ FAZER 600cc / 97 HP and the last 5,5 years i ride a HONDA SH 300 abs/cbs everywhere from downtown to the mountains. You will get used to it but sometimes you will miss the power of the big bike . So i wish you happy ri...

Re: New Member

Looks like your Gold Wing is up on a centerstand -- can that be possible? I had quite enough trouble getting my 400-pound CB550 on the centerstand, until I learned how to lever it with my knee. Anyway, welcome to you, and enjoy the winter riding in FL.

WhiteNoise -- Thanks for the welcome! Location and bike info entered as requested. You guys in the NYC area had some relatively nice weather until quite recently, didn't you? I live outside a little city called La Crosse, and work in the downtown area. You wouldn't think we'd have big city parking i...

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

This afternoon the couple who bought my CB550s returned for the second (project) bike and the last of my vast collection of rusty, greasy motorcycle odds and ends. The garage is empty and forlorn, and my shiny new PCX slumbers in the dealer's storage room, awaiting the spring . . . Why not get it d...

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

Completed the paperwork and paid for my new bike this morning. We got nearly a foot of snow yesterday, so it'll be three months until I ride it away (the dealer will store it until the end of March free of charge). I'm glad they had a 2015 model left -- I like the black bodywork best. This is the fi...

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

You have not lived until you've done 60 mph on a Vino 125 with 10" wheels on wet roads. :D Good choice though. I don't know if you suffer from gout but scooters are awesome to ride during attacks. I've had four attacks on the left foot and operating a car clutch pedal or bike gear shift is jus...

Re: Wider Tires

This is a huge topic over at the Honda SOHC4 forum, where customizers put modern very wide rubber on their '70s CB750 and 550 rat bikes. I was tempted, and the traditionalists talked me out of it. I have been told that transitioning from a motorcycle to a scooter involves a learning curve, particula...

Re: From Honda motorcycles to a Honda scooter

I downsized from a Kawasaki ER6 650cc to a PCX125 and there are adjustments to be made. I don't trust the PCX anything like as much in corners or the wet. It's the smaller wheels that give you noticably less grip. Plus, the PCX's ride is harsher - I certainly feel the bumps more. That's not a compl...
