Re: My driver's license test on the PCX

I have fond memories of my test back in about 1980; The traffic officer wrote out the bit of paper saying I'd passed and stuck it in his back pocket. Out at our bikes he had his gloves & helmet on long before me (I struggled with the old style helmet strap) (double D buckle) .. but "caught ...

Re: PCX shelter

I visited this racetrack north of Christchurch. Never seen these races before, only briefly on TV. Man those cars are loud! And they flick dirt to your face. Fun time! "Stock cars" as we collectively call them in NZ. We used to go to them quite regularly as a family in my younger days, bu...

I think that was the Britten bike I saw on display at the visitor centre at the end of the gondola ride in ChCH. John Britten was a man a decade ahead of his time. Very sad ending.

Re: PCX shelter

I'm a bicycle guy. I like to think there isn't a problem I can't solve when it comes to bicycles. But when it comes to cars, motorcycles, scooters, I'm freakin' clueless. If I sprayed that CRC 556 on the bolt, will I have to then re-tighten the bolt? Ugh... Possibly - we call it "the toolbox i...

Yeah, I heard Richie was a helicopter pilot now. Us Americans aren't used to our sports stars transitioning into that sort of life. They seem to play golf after retiring. I guess I would too, except I can't stand golf. Someone once defined golf as "a game by which an over-sized ball is hit tow...

Re: PCX shelter

When I bought the PCX, there was already rust on the end of the big bolt (whatever that thing is called) of the rear wheel, and also the exhaust end of the muffler. I just sprayed some WD-40. Not sure why or how rust formed on just two spots since there's none anywhere else. Rust answers to nobody....

Re: PCX shelter

Not sure if this will help of not, but I have a small equipment room where I keep a lot of studio photography gear. I run a dehumidifier in there 24x7 - and any time I need to dry out any bike related clothing I just pop them in there overnight - they come out bone dry in the morning. Why a dehumid...

^ Someone asked and you answered, that's just being nice in my b00k. I'm sure You You is just joking.. Gil Thanks Gil. I'm 100% sure "YouYou" isn't "joking" - he and I don't get along and so he now trolls me at every opportunity despite being politely asked many times to just le...

Re: Speedometer Console Backlights problem!

The fuel gauge is now also on it's way out, flickering on/off all the time. In my experience, flickering lights are far more likely to be an indication of a connection problem than a bulb fault. I'd suggest starting by popping off the grill, windscreen, and cover (really easy when you know how - le...

Re: Finally changed spark plug at 34,000km

Very nice bougie at 34K. I'm just curious about the valves, though. How many adjustments? - by Honda's schedule, a whole lot of them... As I checked them on my Forza at 14,000km, the exhausts were .001" tight, so I went with the next thinner shims. Now at 26,000 km...and they are .001" LO...

You're right next to Tasman Bay, which is next to that beach the Kiwis bought (forgot the name), which is next to Heaphy Track (I hiked it), which is next to...you get my drift. I could never get tired being surrounded by those 'normal' views. But I get what you're saying. I used to live in Manhatt...

Re: Finally changed spark plug at 34,000km

In my opinion Honda specifies that a lot of unnecessary work be done on the bike; on one hand if people get it done that way they'll probably never have any issues but (again, in my opinion) if people look at these things intelligently - How is a person like me supposed to do that ?? LOL - reminds ...

Seeing the rear shocks on that bike does makes me want to ask if anyone has upgraded theirs and what to. My rear shocks are a bit solid at the back I've retained "stock everything" and find them just fine. They will bottom out if I go over any significant aberration whilst at or above max...

Re: Official 2016 Motorcycle Accident breakdown analysis for

Time for a long story, so ignore this if you want to. One of the reasons that I will probably be selling our bikes next year is that my wife worries about me when I am out riding alone, but when I am out with her she doesn't listen to any safety tips that I give her. I have been riding for over 50 ...
