Re: Refitting the rear wheel

Interesting. Mine came off easily, as long as I pulled it straight off. Went back on easily too, as long as I had it lined up and put it straight on.

All I had to do was loosen the rear fender bolts and tie the rear shock up to the turn signal stalk, so it wasn't in the way.

Just a reference point.

Quick brake question

I had the wheels off my PCX the other week to get new tires on it. While they were off, I checked the brake pads and shoes. The rear shoes looked good, plenty of material on them. (my PCX has less than 7,000 miles on it) The fronts looked OK too, but I'll admit I didn't look too closely; they're kin...

Re: Steph... come on back

I've been contemplating the purchase of a used ST1300 next year. Would like to tour in a bit more comfort and not have to avoid expressways. Take the wife along in comfort. ....but then I realized I don't have TIME for that jazz, with all my family obligations. That's why I got the PCX in the first ...

Re: Shopping

When I get groceries I always try to get in and out of the store as quickly as possible so that some person with poor eye site or poor driving habits doesn't pull into my parking space, knock the scooter over, and then drive away like nothing happened. With the popularity of SUVs in my area they te...

Re: New User - Hello from Singapore

Welcome. I think you'll love the bike. It has such a nice smooth engine, and a quiet hum, even at 100 kph.

Re: I feel like taking a gamble.

Sorry, what is the gamble? The gambles are: Trusting that the right oil is in it, so the engine won't be damaged Not checking valve clearances, and trusting that won't cause engine damage I think you mean risk not gamble. Risk and gamble both imply there's something to lose. Either one works, but t...

Re: I feel like taking a gamble.

Um.. on the first note I agree about the VCA. Take to dealer someday, sell scoot before you have to, anything but that long slow process. Having just recently bought one I'm not an expert on the PCX, but have owned other bikes. My experience is that most times (not always) they need adjustment afte...

Use the List button above, which gives a set of {List} tags. Precede each bulleted item with {*} (replacing the braces with the square brackets)

If you want a numbered list, I think you use the List= button, and put '0' directly after the '='

We mighty patio hunters prefer not to ingest chemicals, hormones, preservatives, etc. We like our meat wild, having foraged on natural, whole foods, rather than whatever is cheapest for some farm/factory to feed them. The yogurt is not lactose free; that's the milk. (yogurt doesn't need it, since it...

Made a run to Costco today. A largish backpack, underseat trunk and bungee net for the rear end of the bike was just the thing: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/jzorns/20170730_112632_HDR_zpsapgkblbj.jpg The payload was: 3 half-gallons of milk A big bag of frozen pot stickers 2 dozen eggs A j...

Mel, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one whose headlights can't be adjusted high enough. I'll be forced to run high beams at night, even if they're slightly blinding to oncoming traffic; better to blind them for a couple of seconds than for me to not spot a deer or raccoon... homie, I usually just...

Fish
Oil change every 1k is kooky-talk. I'll stick with Honda's 5k recommendation on that. (or annually, if I don't get 5k on it in a year)

Some owners recommend touching the valve lash only if scoot becomes a hard starter....or is tapping noticeably.
This is what I'm going to do. I almost wonder if Honda forgot to add a 0. 25,000 miles seems more realistic for an involved valve check than 2,500.

Taking the engine apart seems like a good winter-time project, and you have a nice long winter in Minneapolis. Buy yourself a service manual, and solicit advice on what else to fix while you have it completely torn down. (maybe upgraded rear shocks? Retrofit some kind of easy-out underseat storage c...

I feel like taking a gamble.

I bought my PCX used, maybe 300 miles ago. The oil level was good; right up to the top, but not over. The oil clarity was good too, leading me to believe that the mechanic at the used bike shop where I bought it did The Right Thing. (put the right oil in it) So I'm going to leave it be until the nex...

If there's a lien against the bike, it means he didn't make the payments, and it's therefore not his to sell, but the bank's.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the bike. Having a model-specific club (aside from this one) would be far too limiting. You have all the people with this model, all over the world. There are a LOT of us. However, being serious enough about it to join a model-specific forum? Got to be a lot less...

It's possible they had a "near miss" in traffic and got cold feet to ride the thing anymore. Riding is not for the timid. . .. ;) This is my bet. Or, it's crashed, and the low price reflects the crash damage. OR it's stolen and he wants a quick sale. Maybe he's in jail already, hence the ...
