Re: Front suspension upgrade

Ok. Hmm. Did I screw something up? At extremely low speeds ~5-10km/h the front seems to hop on bumps about 25MM high. Not sure if it's airborne but definitely close. My commute was only around 60km/h. Speed humps hit with a bang that transmits to my wrists. So, drop back to OEM springs and leave the...

Re: Front suspension upgrade

Ok, checking in. I did the second one last night. Put it all together and gave it a quick little ride in the parking lot. First thing I noticed was no static sag and no sag with me on. Zero give had me a tad worried. I noticed under braking was zero dive but it seemed a bit much. I will ride it to w...

Re: Front suspension upgrade

Hi, thanks for asking. I completed one side. I found out my hands are not nearly as strong as they used to be! I couldn't get the C clip out of the second one. So I am hoping to complete it tonight. Working on the ground is a challenge. So far I can report that the PD valve fit fine on the first one...

Re: Front suspension upgrade

Thanks! I am in an underground parking garage with no electricity available. No worries, I will be very thorough in deburring and will loosen the Allen screws before disassembly. Thanks again, I would not have attempted this on my own. Cheers!

Re: Front suspension upgrade

YSS guide says if damping rod is 175MM, Then 4 - 6MM holes. At least that's how I read it. Thanks again! Sunday project :)

Re: Front suspension upgrade

Hi Scott, That's not even that bad. 132-97 = 35mm (just a sidenote, on my bike I measure 135mm from yoke to the wiper seal when I pull down the fork legs. its is due the top out spring, so in fact we cannot use the total travel, the last few mms are taken by the top out spring which helps to avoid ...

Re: Front suspension upgrade

OK, wow. Sagging is not the word. OE front suspension on my '13 PCX150 with 8,900km on the clock. Full height lifted from yoke to metal of the lower part of the front damper is 132MM Static sag with no rider is 113MM. With me on (no bounce, eased down) is 97MM. That's approximately 1/2 of total trav...

Re: Front suspension upgrade

Oyabun, again I thank you for your time. I'll do the measurements and post the results. But sounds like OE front springs may be more comfortable already! Disappointing. I may have to suck it up and try to sell the YSS springs and copy your original install and redrill to 8mm on the larger holes.

More... Hard to edit on phone and keep track of each! And do I still open the larger holes to 8MM?

Re: Front suspension upgrade

Here are pictures. The package was labeled '15 PCX. Sure hope that is correct! My PD valves arrived today and appear to be correct at 23.8MM.

Re: Front suspension upgrade

Oyabun, I can't thank you enough. My experience is with linear rate car springs and rebound only adjustable dampers. Used to visit road courses all over. But comfort an effective suspension is the goal on the PCX. Anyway, dimensions are: OAL 263MM ID 15.35MM OD 22.86MM Wire thickness 3.57MM Variable...

Re: Front suspension upgrade

Thread revival time! So I have YSS PD valves on the way. Already bought YSS upgraded springs. Now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. OE springs and 15W oil and 2 turns on valves or upgraded springs 15W and 1.5 turns? I weigh about 85KG and on occasion ride 2 up. I'm aiming for comfort and le...

Re: Pcx hybrid

Ivy, I think the battery weight would be minimal for such a light vehicle. My replacement li-ion battery weighs almost nothing, but it's not a massive series of cells. Plus the electric version has two modest sized pull out and take with you cells.
