For what it is, a convenient deterrent, the Grip-Lock is quite good. A thief would have to cut the brake cable if hot-wiring, or dolly/carry the scoot into a van.

I think it depends on the design. A crash bung is going to protect against parking horizontally, but if the threaded rod is too hard yes, it could bend the frame when pavement surfing. If it's soft enough and sacrificial, that's what you want--it can be grabbed with a ViceGrips(tm) and bent somewhat...

Are the grips hard or soft? I've put heated grips on ATVs for other people and the hard plastic is very annoying if they have a buzzy machine, and offers no impact resistance.
