Re: Yet Another Seat Mod?

........ and yes, I understand about the fear of damage to the seat once the hump is unbolted. This worried me as well. What I can say though, is that despite wearing leather motorbike jeans and occasionally motorcycling textile jeans the holes have never been stretched not torn the seat at all. I d...

Re: Yet Another Seat Mod?

Hi there. Yes they do (at least the ones I've used did) but I also used a spot of 'rubber cement' around the plug. This is the glue that comes in a bicycle puncture outfit. It doesn't harm the plastic seat, and if I ever need to remove the plug it should come off pretty readily. It also helps form a...

Re: Yet Another Seat Mod?

Well I did this mod a full year ago, and have done another 4000+ miles. The rubber tyre plugs have held up brilliantly, and blend in very well. Even the creases in the vinyl cover have disappeared, so no more smiley face! To be honest I didn't expect the plugs to last very long, and thought this was...

Re: Engine cover?

Hi
Once the underseat compartment is removed, you can see that the engine / ancillaries are fully exposed. This is what my 2012 PCX125 was like when I did my 5000 mile valve check ......

Re: Garaged for winter

That's sad  I don't think I could get through the winter without my PCX .......... Will you take it out for a spin if we get a mild phase in the winter? I know the road salt is a pain. I have to cold wash my PCX, motorbike and bicycles every single time I take them out during the winter. But an...

Re: Spot light mod

Hmmm, good idea :) This looks like a Smart bicycle light - did you keep the original lead-acid battery system or wire it in to your 12v system? I have a large screen on mine, which may reflect a lot of the light back onto me ..... this might actually be a good thing for getting yourself seen. Depend...

Re: Cat & Fiddle

Great photos. I was supposed to do this route last March (on a bit of a mini Tour of Britain) but the blizzard conditions knocked the whole trip on the head.
Hopefully I will be able to see all this great scenery sometime next year!

Re: Commuting in Winter?

djcat, Just one more thing to consider if considering commuting through the winter on a PCX. If you intend using country lanes instead of main A roads, remember that few of these are gritted with salt. I prefer to use the main roads when it's frosty/icy because they are usually much safer than takin...

Re: Mirrors for PCX

Hi, with the mirrors the size of the threaded bar is 10mm (most scooters are 8mm, most motorbikes are 10mm) but the size of the nut that locks down onto the handlebar fitting is larger ... in your case you need a 17mm spanner/wrench.
Hope this helps!

Re: How-To: Valve Adjustment for Honda PCX

Some information for 125 ESP riders .... The 2012 ESP model has some different fittings than those contained in the OP's photos. They are essentially the same, but the main differences are:- 1. Fuel line connector looks like this .... P1050248_WEB.jpg 2. The radiator fan markings now look like this ...

Ooh, I like the sound of this meet-up, but Yorkshire is just too far ........ being as I am in Deepest Dorzet. :( Perhaps we could arrange a meeting down south as well? Re: Centrestand woes.... sound familiar...?

Sorry to hear that yours has already cracked Ben
Can I ask, which model of PCX do you have? PCX 125 or the PCX 125ESP?
It might help us to narrow down which models are most at risk.

Re: Centerstand Bosses Revisited

I can confirm that my 2012 UK 125ESP has the extra piece too.
That 'wrap around' spring WhiteNoise is in fact two springs, one inside the other. They hook over the peg in opposite directions, making it look like a full wrap around. I'm not sure if this is just a 125 ESP thing or not.

Re: Honda Nighthawk 250 (CB250)

Hi Maddiedog I had one of these as my first step-up from a Honda CG125 once I'd passed by test. What a great bike - probably all most of us ever need, certainly for one-up riding. Very very easy to work on, with just two valves per cylinder and just one carb. They stopped selling them in Britain som...

Re: Increasing mpg with each fill up?

In response to Larry, I have also found my mpg rising in the past few weeks. I think the heatwave we are having in Britain at the moment definitely has something to do with it. I mostly ride rural A/B roads and keep up with other traffic, and I have seen my mpg as high as the 130mpg area. My last 7 ...

Thanks for this gn2! :D Have just managed to get the pin greased before starting work this morning. By the look of it, my pin was definitely in need of lubing, so I gave it a quick wipe over with emery paper as well. One thing I found with using the phillips screwdriver, was to lever it slightly dow...

Lyme Regis Coast to Coast Run

Well early this morning I rode down to Lyme Regis on the south coast (of England) to watch the start of the annual Coast to Coast vintage motorcycle run from Lyme Regis to Weston-super-Mare. The Run is roughly an 80 mile ride, and is very well attended with usually 250 classic bikes and around 100 m...
