Re: breakfast with k2apache
Nice morning chatting and going over PCX and motorcycle related topics. Glen and his scoot both looking fit and healthy, amazing how these scoots hold up, even in Florida weather with a bit of loving care. Once again PCX'ers, it was Glen that inspired me to customize my PCX. Anyone looking for great...

Re: Do I have to use MB oil?
Better to fully break the engine in on regular oil, you might be ok at 600 miles though. Personally I do 1k on regular oil then a full synthetic thereafter.

Careful with those bikers bars, the anodizing on mine faded to bronze in about 4 months with the sun. I had to paint them black in the end.

Nothing 'Grumpy' about common sense Mel. Personally I think texting in a vehicle should be banned in all states.
Was sat in my buddy's jeep when rear ended at a red light by a girl texting. Her father shows up later and tells us it's the second time she'd done it!

It's nice but dont like the shorter wheelbase or taller seat, the rear shocks look somewhat 'spindly' too.

Re: Hi everyone... NCY Variator kit?
Well heres an update: NCY Variator with 13g sliders, new belt, and NCY clutch bell. Meh' its a mixed bag. About the same on acceleration, top speed is down some, much smoother though and definately way smoother on the overrun. I'll stick with this for a week then switch to a new set of rollers to co...

Re: Hi everyone... NCY Variator kit?
Yeah the teflon had definately rubbed away along the roller path after 10k, the paths are still smooth though, not concerned at all. Dr Pulley sliders are in, same weight, new belt, and I put on the NCY bell as well. Havent ridden yet will report tomorrow. Rollers were in surprisingly good condition...

"for me and for most of us I guess it's that we just like to play around with our machinery... :D" Yessir, you got that right! Well I thought I'd experiment too a little today. Mel you'll be pleased to know the NCY rollers had no flat spots and were surprisingly good considering 10k miles ...

The springs will definately help, the Z series XL shocks have worked well for Glen on his scooter and yes its a straight swap.

Re: Problem with new NCY variator/clutch kit. Or just me?
I think the op had been sent the wrong part since this thread is 3 weeks old and he's since posted. I got my NCY super transmission kit directly from Taiwan and had no such problems. The best thing about the kit is the rear pulley has their own bearings and that completely did away with the 2013 PCX...

Re: Hi everyone... NCY Variator kit?
Looking fwd to hearing the results. I was also wondering if the teflon coating is really that important, other variators seem to get along ok without it. Anyways I have a new set of rollers on their way, but also a set of sliders with about 1k on them. One thing I have learned is basically the take ...

Re: NCY transmission kit installed today.
Will do Mel, there ought to be some wear at 10k. By Thursday/Friday I should have em changed out. Also got a new 'HiFloFiltro air filter' for $10 off ebay, was very happy with the last one so I'll change that with the belt and rollers too.

Ok so here's what I did, get 2 small pieces of high density foam, about 3" long and about 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" thick, I used the foam packing out of a PC graphics card box. Now stuff them between the screen and the black piece, 1 on either side, use a ruler or something thin if you ...

"At 10k miles on your belt you will see a slowing of your bike. Put a new belt on, let it seat, and watch the topend climb. :-)" I know Mel, thats why I'm changing it lol. I have the 13's already, just thought I'd change them too since the belt's being changed, it should be interesting to ...

Re: NCY transmission kit installed today.
Sorry my bad. There are 2 threads running concurrently, hence the confusion. The other thread is here, http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8759
Sorry I got my threads mixed up. Yeah I use the stock belt, changing my rollers and belt next week after 10k miles.

Re: NCY transmission kit installed today.
Weird. All I experienced was gains throughout the rev range and an 8mph bump at the top end using just the parts previously described, we dont really have 'hills' here in florida but bridges and entrance ramps seem faster using the butt dyno method.. Aside from the ramp angle's effect on things I wa...
