Re: Riding/ parking on gravel
Just slow and steady. I have ridden 10 miles on a gravel road on my old Metropolitan but I don't think I ever got over 5 mph the whole way. As others have said, be ready to shoot a leg out if you have to keep from tipping over.

Do a search on "snorkel" Here's 1 thread ... http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8068&p=112137&hilit=snorkel#p112137 I'm not sure if removing it is a good idea or not, it may have a function to prevent moisture for being injected - but I'm not sure. This is the thread,...

Making more noise.
A while back I was reading a topic on the air flow or changing weights and happened to read that pulling a part out of the air box will make the pcx louder so others might hear you coming. There was a diagram put up showing which panel to remove in order to increase noise. Now I have done a search b...

Re: A small victory, plus "Preaching to the Choir"
I had a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 396, made to my specifications. I waited 2/3 months for it and just happened to be at the dealership it came in on a Saturday night after the dealer closed. I told the truck driver it was mine and had ordered it, he smiled and gave me $5 for gas and told me to not let ...

I still like maps. You have to divert your eyes off the road to check the small screen, enough time for something bad to happen.

Re: Windshield height
For hand protection, this is what I built for my wife's bike, though we no longer ride in the winter. They aren't hard to make. http://www.instructables.com/id/Motorcycle-Hand-Wind-Deflectors-version-21/ I have seen that blog Mel and had forgotten about it. I will see what I can come up with. I thi...

Re: First oil change and screen cleaning
Any dirt or metal particles in the screen? I have yet to clean my screen after 12,000 kms (1 year).[/quote] I didn't find any metal in the screen but did find a little bit of cloth fiber I would guess it came from the gloves of a factory worker putting the motor together. I'll check it again next ti...

Re: Windshield height
Thanks you you, mine is 16-1/4 same measurement. I am looking for wind protection or deflection for my hands and I figured that some windshields that are wider might deflect enough wind and rain from my hands. I thought that the tall Givi windshield had such a deflection as well as being taller to d...

Re: First oil change and screen cleaning
When I took the screen out there might have been a 1/4 teaspoon of oil that dripped out so that is why I questioned the 1 qt. when cleaning the screen. The oil is at the top of the dipstick after running it and rechecking the level so I guess all is well in the world now.....except where it isn't! T...

Re: First oil change and screen cleaning
Go with the .8 quarts. About the only time that I have seen the entire quart used is when the engine has been taken apart. I check the screen during each oil change and it never takes a full quart. Just check it before you ride. Thanks Mel! Now I can salvage the rest of this beautiful Saturday on 2...

First oil change and screen cleaning
Ok, so I have changed my oil (first change) using Honda's recommendation and cleaned the screen. The manual says to put back .8 qt. if screen is not removed and 1 qt. if it is. I have put back in .8 qt. of oil and started it to check for leaks. none seen. I checked the dipstick after letting it set ...

Re: Windshield height
So Mel, what is the measurement from the top of your windshield to the center of the handlebars? Also I can't tell from pictures if there is an area to the sides that protects your hands from the wind when riding. A straight on picture is what I am looking for along with the height measurement.

Windshield height
I am wondering if it would be worth the time/expense to change out my Honda windshield for a tall Givi or other windshield. I measured mine and from the top to the handlebars to(between the 4 bolt clamps) measures 16 inches. I have noticed that some of the Givi windshields also protrude out to keep ...

Re: Oil leak on rear housing and tire.
They kept it that long you you so they could ride it and make double damn sure they had found the problem. I am not upset about the length of time they kept it. I would rather have them keep it until it is fixed than to get it and still have the same problem. Long story short, it is fixed and I have...

Re: Oil leak on rear housing and tire.
So after about 3 or 4 weeks I got my ride back. I got the call yesterday from the dealership and the foreman told me I could pick it up anytime. I went today and got it home. He told me that they had replaced the 2 washers behind the fill and drain bolts on the rear axle housing with copper washers....
