My old CBR 125R in my profile pic. I wish I had a helmet camera.

Re: MPG

Ah the MPG. What's 70 MPG in the United States can mean 87.5 MPG in the rest of the world. since 1 US Gallon = roughly 0.8 Imperial Gallons.

70 MPG (US) is 3.3 L/100km. Anything more than 60 MPG (US) and the cost of fuel is insignificant IMO. Just put a few bucks in gas in and ride.

Re: ATGATT - it pays to cover up!

In the summertime, a majority of riders are squids so I'm not really shocked. It's their lives in the end. They seem to thin out as the weather cools down.

you you wrote:But full gear didn't save her shoulders.

And 40 yards to stop from 45mph?. Might have been best to simply brake rather than laying the bike down/panic locking the front
She wasn't wearing full gear.

Sometimes bailing is the best option. But I guess everything is black and white to you.

Re: Best way of getting rid of tailgaters ?

Dave nowhere, There's only two roads out 1 and 3 as you are not being tailgated on the Coquihalla? Is the limit on 1 and 3 80 kph or higher? Used to be 90 but...maybe now 110? So you are riding at the limit and guys catch you up? Either ride faster or wave them by. The 1 and 3 is 90-100 now. Coquih...

Re: Camcorder action while riding.. Recommendations

I ordered a GoPro 3 White Edition for $199 CAD ($140 USD) on a surprise one day sale on Amazon which should come Wednesday. Costco has the Silver Edition for $299 CAD ($210 USD) which had better features, but meh I was cheap. I chose GoPro because it has an external mic input which I can run to my h...

In my defense, I learned my lesson. I replaced my front tire a few weeks ago right when it hit the wear bar.

Re: Take responsibility

Anyway, I've said a few times already that motorcyclists are fully responsible for their own safety by riding defensively. Slow down at intersections where drivers could make left/right turns into you. Stay out of blind spots. Scan your mirrors and all around you frequently. There are unavoidable ac...

I drove by this accident the other day: http://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/163142/Lucky-leap-to-escape-crash Motorcycle was underneath this white van and my heart just dropped. The guy managed to jump off his motorcycle before the van plowed over it. http://www.castanet.net/content/2016/4/crash_p3...

Re: 50cc or 150cc

That's pretty scary. 49cc riders here in BC must hold at minimum a novice drivers license, and I believe in Canada it's either some sort of Step 2 license if the province has a graduated licensing program or a full drivers license. And despite their knowledge with driving, a lot of them still show o...

Re: Can the pcx150 last 100 miles?

I did a quick calculation. My car costs about 26.9 cents a km to run, assuming 20,000km a year. That includes insurance, gas, tires, maintenance, and depreciation from $26,000 (how much I paid for it) down to $1,000 when it hits 300,000km. A PCX is about 18 cents a km, assuming 10,000km a year. Incl...

Re: Can the pcx150 last 100 miles?

The riding school I attended had a number of CBR 125Rs with 80,000+km on them . They'd probably roll over the odometer to 160,000km (100k miles) easily. It's a Honda. Treat it well with oil changes as per the service manual and it will treat you well back.

I've gone down due to a rear wheel lock up and gotten myself out of several others by unlocking the rear wheel.

Meanwhile, I haven't been able to do a stoppie yet.

The ABS is front wheel only, unless I'm mistaken. I've never locked up my front wheels before.

Dirty air filter? Dirty fuel injector? Spark plug needs replacement? Worn CVT components like rollers, clutch, etc.? Needs a valve adjustment?

Those five would be my main suspects, sorted by easiest to hardest fix.

Re: Disconnecting the side stand from the Auto-Shutoff

A previous owner of my Vino 125 must've disconnected the auto off. I deliver papers with it so this is better, but I have caught myself once a week riding off with the side stand still down. I haven't gone down because of it. Yet. For safety's sake, I'd highly recommend not defeating this safety fea...
