Re: Well... I dumped it.

Glad you're ok.

This is a good exercise for your OCD. Now that you have the first scratch, you can stop worrying about it. Get some touch up paint from Honda, and apply it per directions.

Bending exhaust?

I just realized after changing the tires that the muffler is solidly bolted to the swingarm. How can it bend with every bump without breaking prematurely? Seems like kind of a bad/cheap design...

Re: Tips for wheel removal and reassembly

Here's the video I watched to teach myself how to remove the rear wheel. Short, low production quality, and to the point: just my style.

Re: What did i get for miles per gallon

241 km ÷ 1.62 = 149 miles

But if your numbers are correct, you only put in 1/20 of a liter to go that far, (5.86 ÷ 113.3) which is impossible unless you were coasting down a really long hill.

Are you sure you didn't put in 5.86 L, rather than dollars? That would make more sense.

Re: Tips for wheel removal and reassembly

Why didn't my fancy bullet lists work? Should I have removed the '=' from the tag? Did you place your bullet(?) between the brackets? Type gets placed AFTER the =] type goes here Trying to help, I hope I'm making sense  By the way Smaug, this is excellent regardless of bullet biz. Thank you!!...

Re: Do you hit the corners hard? Go around turns fast?

You are going to shit yourself when you have more than 9hp available. My 2010 Yamaha FJR1300 had 145 hp. The weight shift to different contact patches is more instantaneous and dramatic with a 145 hp sport-touring bike than a 9 hp scooter for sure, but the point is that if you're at the limit of tr...

Re: whos pcx has the most miles and how many miles is it

Woo, nice work guys. I bet there's some Thai riders who don't/can't participate who have over 50,000 km, as it may be their only transportation.

My 2013 has only 6680 miles or so. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but I only got it a month ago, so that's my excuse.

Re: Vigilante Pothole Brigade...

They better be careful, or the state will just pull funding to fix potholes and use it for something else. Then, people will be OBLIGATED to fix potholes on their own dime.

Re: Helmet trick

My dad did that on his old helmet. I thought it was so dorky. But it works! The reason that space is left clear is for sportbikers who are leaning way forward and who will be looking through that part of the shield. But us scooterists don't need it. One tip for next time: put the tape on the INSIDE ...

Re: Tire pressure

I use stock pressure. I'm not too much heavier (175 lbs) than the typical Asian rider for which the bike was designed. You could probably lower it a bit, but then the tires would wear faster due to heat, and your fuel economy would go down. If you go higher, your contact patch gets smaller --> less ...

Just a tip: Seal it with something like mink oil to help it resist rain and UV. I know mink oil will help with rain, not sure about UV. I bet Armor All makes a product just for this purpose...

Re: Tips for wheel removal and reassembly

When you go to get your tires changed, you'll find that it costs double if you just bring your bike in and have the mechanic do the whole job. In my case, I saved $100 by taking the wheels off and bringing them in. Local mechanic with a day job mounted and balanced both tires for $50. I just finish...

Re: Tappet Nut lost...

With no money to pay someone to do it, I think you're going to have to take the engine apart to find it. In the process of that, you'll see if any damage was done. One question first: did you drain the oil and check at the drain plug? Man, if I needed another excuse not to mess with my valves, this ...

Re: Do you hit the corners hard? Go around turns fast?

Maverick, the basics of the dynamics are that when you go through a turn at a constant speed, the traction is distributed between the two contact patches almost evenly. The rear contact patch is bigger, so we can corner at higher speeds if we use more of it, and less of the front's. You can distribu...

Unfortunately there are a lot of things that the little PCX does not come with, but since the major sales for this little scooter is not the good old USA it seems to take a very long time for Honda to listen to us. Look how many years it took for them to finally put LED lights on it, and the new tu...

Re: got nailed...

There are two basic kids of plugs, from what I've seen: mushroom and sticky rope. The mushroom ones are faster to use, but they seem to completely rely on pressure to hold them in place. The sticky rope ones drum to be held in place with two kinds of adhesive.
