Re: My 2013 PCX 150
GeorgeSK: Thanks for the prayers!! They are ALWAYS appreciated!! Mel46 and Jacinto: Yeah, the helmet is now just a display item. Fortunately, He has 5 or 6 other helmets. He's just bummed it was his new Kylo Ren helmet. The deer was about the same size as the scooter, so it was a fairly good sized o...

Re: My 2013 PCX 150
My son was installing lights on his Grom and took my scooter to work yesterday. On his way home, a deer ran into his path and hit the front of the scooter. As he described it, the scooter went nearly upside down and slid to a stop on it's left side. His road rash goes from his left ankle all the way...

Re: My 2013 PCX 150
Very Good! By the time you get everything working and looking the way you want, winter will have arrived. (Bummer) In any case, that is going to be a well lit up bike, and it is going to be "Mahvelous, dear...simply Mahvelous!" All the glim and glamor of Hollywood. :-) Ah, but you forget,...

Re: My 2013 PCX 150
I haven't done an update in awhile. I have my lighting done, just need to get some nighttime photos. I ordered the Top Box and will install it when I get it. I ordered my HAM radio antenna and will mount that when received. I have a throat mic/earphone setup for my HT, so communications will be easy...

Re: HAM Radio on the PCX
Hey, Bob You just got me to thinking. . . I could put the slim jim in thinwall PVC and make a mount for it. Then, I could have it "on the scooter" and still be able to remove it from it's mount for deploying for better TX/RX. Hmmmmm. . . Thanks for making my mind go active!! LOL!!! Dave KG...

Re: HAM Radio on the PCX
I was wondering about the transmit current draw as well on a mobile radio. Dave, Are you going to deploy the slim jim antenna only while stopped or are you going to mount it to the scooter? Bob K9COT Well, I know I won't be transmitting while riding, so the Slim Jim will be deployed when stopped. I...

Re: HAM Radio on the PCX
When I had my Burgman 400, which I agree is larger scooter, there was a guy in our group who had a ham radio attached on his bike for events. He told me that it drew a lot of current so he had to do something or other, which I can't remember, in order to not drain the battery before finishing the e...

Re: HAM Radio on the PCX
I am thinking a Dual Band Slim Jim would be easy to carry and deploy at stops. With the various rides I've been on with groups, HAMs would be great for the first and last riders. Then, if there are any mechanical problems, the group could easily be notified. If the group doesn't have multiple licens...

HAM Radio on the PCX
Anybody here have a HAM Radio installed on your PCX?
I'm thinking about either a low watt Transceiver(25W).
I may just get a good high gain antenna and use my HT connected to it.
Thoughts?

Re: Beat 2 crotch rockets tonight up to ...
On the three twisted sisters ride this summer, I had a similar experience with the big bikes.
On the straights, they would leave me behind, but on the twisties, I would catch up and pass.
The PCX is so nimble and easy to push around the corners.
It makes for a fun run!!

Re: Seat mounted Top Box
kramnala58,
I will be in the market for saddlebags after the first of the year.
I'll let you know what I finally decide.
Thanks,
Dave

Those saddlebags look like the Givi EA 101B saddlebags. https://www.ebay.com/i/122739484862?chn=ps&dispItem=1&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F711-117182-37290-0%252F2%253Fmpre%253Dhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.com%25252Fi%25252F122739484862%25253Fchn%25253D...

Re: Seat mounted Top Box
Dave, You can remove the trunk easily two ways. Press the red button on the back of the truck to release it from the trunk mounting plate or undo the strap buckle under the seat to remove everything to allow a passenger. Thanks, Knoll, that's what I thought. Confirmation is always a good thing!! Dave

Re: Seat mounted Top Box
Yeah, I know it seems a little "out-of-the-norm", but I do have specific plans that I am mulling through my head. The underseat storage will be used for on-the-road maintenance tools, materials and parts during long rides. If I need to access the underseat storage, I just have to release t...

Re: Seat mounted Top Box
I appreciate feedback and I like it when people scratch their heads in wonderment. If there is a better way to mount a top box, other than the standard mount, I'm all ears. I had a scooter before and it came with the top box and mount, and I rarely carried the box because I didn't like the look of i...

Re: Seat mounted Top Box
/sarcasm ON Wow, I can't believe that a personal preference on the location of a top box could cause this much drama. Am I on Facebook?? I guess I was in error for liking this mounting idea. While I understand many of the questions, and those questions were helpful in getting more information, I th...

Re: Seat mounted Top Box
That is my bike. Here is a picture with the seat open. One thing I needed to add. The strap goes completely around the truck mounting plate (between the trunk and the top of the mounting plate). The screws hold the duffle bag pad and strap in place. I haven't noticed any stress on the hinge, course...
