Re: (New Brake Levers) Parking Brake Won't Engage

There was quite a lot of discussion on this several years ago. In general, it does require adjustment at the rear linkage as was mentioned - but the "Parking Brake" is a finicky mechanism and many of us simply ignore it - I know I do.

Re: Do I need to top off brake fluid?

Usually it's not the fluid leaking but indication the front pads are nearly worn - best check them. My fluid indication went low and I found it was basically metal on metal with no friont pads left! When new ones are fitted (you can do it yourself), you need to not press and brake levers, push the ...

Ooops, I'm incorrect. Don't put castor bean oil in your PCX. You can mix some with your 2T oil for your vintage 2 stroke scooter, but don't use anywhere in your PCX.

Re: gear oil

My PCX wasn't accelerating worth beans. Then I added castor oil into the final drive. Problem fixed.

Re: Sloppy Oil Change

And there is always the oil pump option... I'm trying that next time, I recently got a siphon / pump 'cause I needed it for the snow blower. Does most of the 800ml come out You ? It seems to get what is in out. I removed the drain after using it once and nothing came out. You'll always get someone ...

iceman wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 2:12 am I thought the manual said to use the same oil for both (no special gear oil needed for the small final drive chamber as it has an easy life and oil comes out looking like it went in - after 2 years). Most of us use the same oil and never have issues - fully synth 10w30 / 10w40 seems fine.

you you wrote: Fri Mar 05, 2021 3:24 am Its overfilled but not by a huge amount.

Its not ideal but won't cause any damage. If it bothers you use a small syringe and pipe to remove the excess.

Re: Sloppy Oil Change

Get some tinfoil, double it over for strength and make it into a “V” or funnel shape that routes the oil into your drain pan

Re: Is this too much engine oil?

Maybe the bike was not level when the oil was drained and not all drained out. If this is what it reads after you added 800 and the dipstick is just inserted to the threads (not threaded in) ..... then this seems a bit high but not horribly so. You're supposed to measure it when the bike is hot .......

Re: What should I do about this rust?

You've found one of the few areas of the PCX which demands constant maintenance. The black yoke and chrome stanchions need to be rubbed over with ACF50 at least once a week, daily in winter, to stop this corrosion forming. If the stanchions corrode in the working area it can cause oil leaks through...

Re: PCX battery charging -

Hello, I've been away for the past four months and return home next week. No doubt my scooter battery will be flat... same for the car. I am considering getting a CTEK charger. I presume a model that offers motorcycle/ scooter charging + car battery charging will work? I wouldn’t use a charger over...

Re: Front flat tyre - only a few months old

Sometimes debris and nails collect on the shoulders of roads. Whether it be in a car or m/c it can be problematic to veer right onto a shoulder in order to get around a car slowing to turn left. This is why a higher percentage of nails are found on a cars' right side tires. Or the left depending on...
