Re: Jump starter
Regarding air travel, the unit that Homie linked is only 8000mAh, which is allowed in carry on luggage as long as there are no exposed terminals. But here is an interesting PITA fact. If you fly in or out of China with any battery like this, and the power is not marked on the unit, it will be confis...

Homie - the flat twin engine across the frame was first put in a motorcycle in England 100 years ago. Lots of different manufacturers, including Harley Davidson, made models with that engine layout. Surprised that you have never seen one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_twin_engine But then again...

"With California only recently allowing motorcycles to lane split..." Well, now we can split hairs about lane splitting. True, California just made lane splitting legal. "On August 19th, 2016, the California Legislature passed AB 51, which formally defines lane splitting in the ...

Re: 2015 Safety RECALL
Factories can be set up with the Thai government for export only sales or for selling locally and overseas. Years ago, Triumph built a factory in Thailand to produce bikes for export only. When Triumph started marketing in Thailand, the bikes had to be exported, then imported for sale (on paper only...

Re: 2015 Safety RECALL
Well, I have an ongoing story about this recall, and the idiocy of American Honda. I purchased this trunk base in the USA last year, and took it to Thailand. Even though the base is made in Thailand it is not sold in Thailand. Go figure. When I heard about the recall through a post here, I contacted...

Paul - it all depends on how far you want to travel. Skyline Drive is close to you. The Drive is about 115 miles long with a 35 MPH speed limit. It continues into the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is nice as well - just not as many mountain curves. About 400 plus miles at 45 MPH. If you just do Skyline ...

Top Box in Thailand
With the wet weather coming in Thailand, I decided to mount a top box. I can always remove it and re-install the metal rack. I decided to get the Givi E450N - a 45 liter box, with capacity for 2 helmets. This box is made in Malaysia, and is much cheaper that the Italian ones. The story that I was to...

Scotch makes a very thin foam tape that might work for you. It is only 1 millimeter thick. Color is a very dark grey.
Usually used to stick things on cars - trim panels, logos, etc.
Acrylic Foam Tape #4229 is how it is sold here in Thailand.

4000 km service in Thailand
Dropped the PCX off yesterday at Honda Big Wing in Chiang Mai for its 4000 km service, and picked it up today.
Looks like the cost of the service (including the valve check) was included with the purchase of the bike. All I had to pay for was the oil change - about $6 USD.

Why bother?
Well, maybe I want to replace a part that has a history of breakage. You can't look at a metal rack and predict that it won't fail (at least I can't).

Just an update on my recall issue - bike in Thailand, rack purchased in USA. Heard back from Honda Powersports. They need proof of purchase to start the procedure - and they only accept faxes, no emails. I was able to contact the USA dealer where I bought the rack, and they are faxing the info to Ho...

For strapping anything to the seat behind me, I took some pieces of 1" webbing, doubled the ends back and stitched them to make loops. Final product is a little longer than the width of the seat. Placing them under the seat gives me extra loops hanging out wherever I want. Easy to hook with a b...

Glen - wouldn't those LED lights be constantly getting activated by anything moving around in the seat box?

"Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009" This phone number is for Honda vehicles, and they have no information about this recall. You have to call Honda Powersports Customer Service at 1-866-784-1870. Thanks for the heads up on the recall. My bike is in Thailand - but ...

One of the largest places for accessories in Chiang Mai is Sangchai Panich, on Kaeo Narawat Road, across from Prince Royal College - phone number is 053 245454. Re: where to put fat Stebel Nautilus Air-horn on skinny PCX
I have this horn on other bikes. One piece of advice - use a short length of hose and an automobile fuel filter on the air intake of the horn. Dust and dirt can ruin the air turbine bearings.
