Re: Use Your Bike (at least occasionally....)
Outside is outside whether it is covered or not. Try living in a tent for a while and you will see what I mean. If I didn't have a garage to store mine I would damn well bring it into the kitchen....in which case it would be rather nice if the kitchen were on the first floor with no stoop or step up...

drive belt change
I have a 2013 PCX. I have had it for 4.5 years and have 18000 miles on it. I changed the belt once but can't remember if I have 5000 or 10000 miles on it at the time. I do know that the belt looked like new when I replaced it. So...how often do people actually need to change the belt (as opposed to ...

Re: Whats a fair price to offer for this 13 150?
Too high for a 2nd owner machine that is almost 7 years old. I paid 3000 for my 1913 PCX and it had exactly 100 miles on the odometer--someone had bought it and immediately traded it back for a bigger bike. So...2500 is nervy. Just lie low and you will get a better deal by and by.

Re: have a thought for what's going on behind you
At least it wasn't a Pinto. Yes, I remember those well. The early ones with the 2L engine hauled. Then with the emissions regulations around '73 they detuned them and they were a slug. My Dad had a '73 Pinto Wagon and I put a fair amount of miles on it in all kinds of weather. No exploding gas tank...

Re: have a thought for what's going on behind you
Dang, that was some hit! I would guess that the driver in that car got a mean whiplash injury. I have been able to ascertain, from the newspaper, that there were injuries in this accident but that the extent of them was not known yet. I find it hard to believe that the offending driver came out of ...

have a thought for what's going on behind you
Out riding this morning I came upon an accident scene. I couldn't stop because of the traffic but I got a good look at the front end of the car that played havoc on the car you see below. It was a car about the size of a Hyundai Accent. Its front end was completely demolished as far as the windshiel...

How-To "Tip:" For DIY Tire Changers
I suppose that most of us here have our tires replaced professionally. Makes sense but some of us are either too cheap or too independent or too pig headed or masochistic or I don't know what, and for these latter I post this little piece of information. Before I continue I have to say that even mor...

Re: don't trust your "right of way" to save your day
As much as we make fun of some of these discussions, there is always that undercurrent of truth. We are on less protected vehicles than those who are driving around in their 'tanks', and the larger the vehicle the less attentive the driver seems to be. It should not be up to us to watch out for the...

Re: don't trust your "right of way" to save your day
Of course you are right about her, but part of the blame goes to the local traffic engineer. When you stagger the stops it confuses people and they remember the last one where as the other driver had the stop so not being particularly mindful she proceeds as if its a four way stop. Many years ago w...

Re: don't trust your "right of way" to save your day
I think all elementary schools should have a special class in pedestrian rules of the road so when these kids grow up they have a more uniform view of personal survival whether it be on foot or wheel. :geek: To be really effective these high school courses need to be pointed with a video composed o...

Re: don't trust your "right of way" to save your day
Disc locks should always be used in conjunction with a curly reminder cord on the front brake/throttle. http://www.teechounamano.com/PiezasCafeRacer/large/images/upload/2012/liangping/SKU105937%20(7).jpg Sorry, but for some of us even one of those orange curlies is not enough. I have caught myself ...

Re: don't trust your "right of way" to save your day
This morning I was out on my PCX, which doesn't weight enough to compete for space against a SUV. I was sitting at a 4 way light, getting ready to turn left. The green arrow came on, I flipped my visor down, getting ready to go, the car behind me impatiently beeped his horn... and an SUV went throu...

Re: don't trust your "right of way" to save your day
You were first and surely had the right of way, however I have found that the best approach to stop signs is always to be last to leave if possible unless you are waived on by the other driver. Its always best to make eye to eye contact ...we cannot take a chance on getting it wrong. Even if we are ...

don't trust your "right of way" to save your day
This morning I was out on my Burgman 400--my beloved PCX is laid up with a bent brake rotor (never, never, never, use a disc lock unless you park your bike in such a way that you have to back it up before you can pull away...this is the second time I am learning this...). To resume: I was out on my ...

Re: I never lend my scooter to anyone
I wouldn't lend a motorized vehicle....too easy to wreck, especially one with only two wheels. Even experienced riders can get into trouble on a machine that they are not familiar with. That being said, I remember a friend, now deceased, who did not think twice about lending her car to almost anyone...

Re: Wonderful day for riding!
If you look at that picture, look at my left wrist area. You will see 4 dots. That is another light. I have one on both sides. You will also look below that and see a tiny black dot. That is a strobe light that I don't turn on during daytime rides. I have one on each side, plus there is one on each...
