Re: The Exhaust Thread.
5-8% power gain is sort of the standard for an aftermarket exhaust when properly tuned, or after the EFI adjusts to it. I have the Takegawa Power Silent Oval. It has a catalytic converter in it as well, but is more free flowing. Looks to be about an 8% peak gain when looking at the dyno chart advert...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
Well when my Forza arrives (dealer should have recall fuel pump replacement on Monday) and if the wife lets me keep the PCX too, I will add those NCY parts I have sitting in the drawer since I have something to ride if I screw it up. ;) My local service manager at Honda is anxious to see how ...

Don't run it on the stand. Remember, he's got a larger tire on there now. Not worth the risk. Sure, you could throw a 1x4 under the centerstand but rest assured it will rev out to 78mph on the stand with real life speed at 75-76mph

Yeah but the weird thing is, he went heavier with the weights and felt it was faster.[/quote]
That's what I'm puzzled by too. Waiting for either Homie or Vamootsman to get their tachs hooked up so we can get some results!

Re: Wirus Win variator
Price is right, but their chart only shows a 5mph gain. That's on a 125 of course, but my NCY setup gets 10-11mph gain. SHipping is going to eat up any cost savings unless you order over $500 in parts.

Re: Taking off the speed limiter!?
Yeah, check out the performance section. 2015 is confirmed to be several mph slower on the top end. According to some it's the internal final drive gear. Sendler2112 mentioned the belt could play a role too. I had (2) 2013's and a 2015. With the NCY parts, one 2013 went 77 with a new belt, the other...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
Ok Homie. Here's the scoop... DOn't fret, the parts do work. You should have experienced an increase in RPM under full throttle from 0-lockout (approx 60mph or so). The RPM increase over stock put more power at your disposal...no doubt about it. What may be ging wrong here: You may have had a higher...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
No results yet? Get with it homie! The stock variator ramps really ramp up at the end and don't allow the weights to get all the way to the edges. The angle on the drive face must be different, but can't tell by the naked eye. I know that with just the vario, I only gained 4-5mph. With the drive fac...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
No loctite needed. You won't pinch the belt on reassembly. You will want to try to separate the bell on the back and squeeze the belt down between the halves a bit so you can get the front drive face on easier. Also, you will need to remove the lower white plastic boby panel that runs along the side...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
Tach will be here in a couple days as it just shipped. I'm sure I can make sense of the installation instruction from broken English but how is it used to help me tune the variator? Here is another dumb question, why didn't we keep the stock parts and just change rollers first to get me back up to ...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
I'm prob going to order up the NCY 12g sliders and throw them in the NCY vario and see what happens. Some say it doesn't work well together. If not, I can pull them out and sell them on the forum here for a small loss, so not too worried. Hoping to get another few MPH top speed out of the sliders t...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
The NCY variator might be different than the stock vario. Who has experience with that unit here? You will want to pull at about 8,000 rpm. The contra spring makes a difference also. The added gearing from the bigger tires can make a difference also so you may have to go 10% lighter than you would ...

Re: NCY variator and sliders - not a good combo
Hmmm, I should set up my video cam and pull off the side cover and run it on the stand and see how much clearance it has with the current rollers. I have the sliders in my "cart" on Amazon, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I can afford a belt seeing as i have a spare and (2) PCX 150's ...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
I actually put a skinnier tire on my sportbike (the one in my avatar). Went from a 180 to a 160 (lightest I could find) and got 4+ lbs off the rear. Went lighter up front too. Noticeable difference in accel and bike also wheelied easier even with the new tire of same circumference. But go ahead and ...

Re: Michelin tire installed, bench & review
Homie, a 15% slower 0-60 time is significant. And it is due to the rotational mass. If you change to 12 or 13g rollers, you will get some back. If you swapped back to OE tire size, you'd gain back even more. So what do you want? The fat chick with the pretty face or the skinny girl with the awesome ...

Oh, and let me be the first to inform you if you didn't read my post already in another thread... Your scooter's MPG readout is in UK gallons. Translation? Whatever MPG it says you're getting, multiply it by .855 and that is your actual mpg! Yeah, and you thought you were getting 100-120mpg. =P Well...

Re: SimCarbon fiber wrap
I weighed the stock windscreen on my 2013. It is 1.5lbs. A REAL cf unit would take away at least 2/3 of that, prob more. Not sure I'd pay the premium for the weight loss there when it could be lost cheaper somewhere else. I wouldn't be doing it for looks, only weight savings.
