Re: running great - then engine just died -

Sean, What is the difference between the Advance Pro and NCY drive plates? Hay Mike, let's start with Honda OEM and work from there. . These are things that I actually have and have measured. . Drive face. 117 mm diameter w/ 15 degree slope = PCX OEM drive face. 117 mm diameter w/ 14 degree slope =...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

OK, I have made a couple of decisions after some deep thought. . For the time being, due to every other Monday being chemo day, I have decided that reliability has a higher priority than super speed. I ride my scooter to clinic because I really enjoy the ride. So I have pulled the Dr.P variat...

Re: Has anyone tried Honda 901 vs 701 cvt belt on the 150 ??

[/b] . switched to a new correct size belt - a quick test ride - much better. . Sean[/b] What is the correct size of the belt? I'm new to all this and having a hard time finding the dimensions of the belt. Considering upgrading the variator and clutch and possibly the belt on my scooter.[/quote] I ...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

Check for rub marks on the inside of the drive casing. I'm curious if it was just a bad belt or if the sliders caused it to extend so far out in the front that it rubbed itself until it heated up enough to catastrophically fail. Hay Maddiedog a couple of photos might help. . 01 torn-busted belt 1 3...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

From what I can deduce Dr. Pulley ramp plate is spider-like and is not a complete "plate" http://www.josho1.com/product/cvt/hyper-rev/ramp-plate.jpg The plate on mine is similar to the photo. The ramp plate has some large cutouts as well as a fairly large spacing between slope of plate an...

Has anyone tried Honda 901 vs 701 cvt belt on the 150 ??

OK, has anyone tried the shorter belt from pre ESP PCX 125 ?? . I got one by mistake and being me I did some measuring. . As close as I can tell, using a cloth tape to measure, the difference is ~10mm . The 701 is ~840mm The 901 is ~830mm . Anyone with thoughts on this - please speak up before I go...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

Well, that is scary. I plan on putting an ncy variator on my wife's pcx but had not planned on getting a reinforced belt. I wonder now if I should. Hay Mel with as many people that have NCY variators I think we would have heard if there was a similar problem. I have not seen one close up so I can't...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

Wow, not many miles and not that old. I wonder if the variator swap-out was the cause of the issue, seeing how you say that was changed in some way. ^^ Looks like an Advance pro drive face? What is behind it? Hay iceman - variator could be problem BUT don't jump to any conclusions. . There are all ...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

How many miles and when last serviced / who did it? Hay iceman scoot has right at 3000 miles and about a year and a half old. Last service was about a month ago, oil change, etc. I did it, do all my own wrenching. . CVT - variator is not Honda OEM but clutch assemble is. Also using Dr P sliders. . ...

Re: running great - then engine just died - PROBLEM SOLVED

OK, so now we get to the heart of the matter. . After reading input from my fellow PCXers, my brain started working again. Always follow the KISS rule till it doesn’t work any more. Dummie, you didn’t check the CVT yet. This is really foolish on my part since it doesn’t take 5 minutes to split the ...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

We are waiting with baited breath. What did you find? You ask how it goes here in Cobb County...Well we jump on our bikes when we can and head north. It is like being in a fish bowl here, and traffic is horrible! Recently we took the bikes to Tiger, Georgia and picked up some jelly and other stuff....

Re: running great - then engine just died -

When you use the tractor battery does your headlights and instruments work? On mine, the headlight comes on when the motor starts, not on key-up (2013). O.P., do you have a manual? They have quite a few trouble-shooting procedures. There are a couple interesting "fail-safes" built into th...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

Unfortunately I doubt the issue is your battery. When batteries fail, the bikes don't just shut down on the highway. Difficulty cranking also suggests a seized piston. Have you check the oil level and condition? Coolant level? You definitely need to take out the spark plug and look at its condition...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

Is it possible that you got bad gas during your last fill up? If the battery is godd then thee next suspect would be the gas. Sorry to hear that you had a problem. Did you fill up at an off brand gas station? Some of those stations do not check their fuel on a regular basis, so the gas could have w...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

The short-cranking bothers me. Mine appears to keep cranking if I hold the button down (also 2013). Does the fuel pump cycle on when you key it up? You'll need to start with the basics: Spark? fuel? compression? Anything looking obviously out of place? Without being able to hook a scanner up you ca...

Re: running great - then engine just died -

Hay Pcxdemon . Put meter on it while trying to start it. Drops to about 9volts . So I took battery out of lawn tractor - fully charged it and tried again. . Still won't do anything other than flip over. Hit starter button, does the same thing again. . Battery dropping to about 10volts on start atte...
