Re: Rear shocks.
I was pricing yss g euro shocks today actually. Biker it's is the cheapest around at about $200 shipped. Powerbypcx is another option, they are about $25 more. Check both sites for alternatives. My understanding is that the yss g euro is the ultimate shock for us. Bikerbitz stocks the xl shocks. You...

Re: Variators for increased speed,
My experience with my NCY variator on my PCX 150 was a change in top end from 65-68 MPH on a flat to 75 MPH on a flat 77 MPH down hill. I can cruise at 70-75 on a flat easily. My economy also increased by 10 % since I wasnt running at wot on the highway anymore. Heres where you can find it: http://w...

Oh, I'm in the Midwestern US and the cost with shipping from PCX Racing for the variator is around $120.

Yuminashi variator and belt
Hey guys just wanted to point something out. I was going to buy a yuminashi variator initially instead of the NCY that i ended up purchasing. I chose not to buy the Yuminashi because of the additional price and availability of their Gates powerlink belt at the time. I emailed back and forth with Yum...

Re: CBS causing me problems
Two quick points ewganhoff. First, the IRC tires from what i hear really give poor traction in dry and wet on both the pcx and the cbr 250r. The alternate Donlop TT 900 tires seem to be great (my pcx 150 came with them). I have NEVER had the front tire skid and I ordered aftermarket pads and shoes f...

Re: slight vibration at about 68 mph...anyone?
you're feeling the rollers in the variator bouncing around. its similar to a rev limiter except you can change out your variator and weights to add another 10+ mph.

Re: What is the range on the PCX?
Silentsamari you should take your 150 in. That's less than 40 mpg per tank. Something is seriously wrong there. In stock form the worst I ever got was 73mpg at wot running 65-68 mph for a 56 mile round trip ride. You should in no way possible be getting that little mileage. Take it to the dealer!!!

Re: PCX fuel mileage
I can vouch that at 65mph with the stock variator I get 73-75 mpg at wot. Now with an aftermarket variator and 13g sliders that jumped to 83-85 at 65mph as my top end raised to 77mph. I ride lots of highway and will say that the proper variator and weights change everything!

Re: Engine is dead..
What I can tell you is that our clutches don't disengauge until 10-12 mph which means that if you shut the engine off while riding at speed then your crank was still turning as you decelerated. Secondly, if it tried to start with another battery, charge your battery and replace the generator and go ...

At wot you will have a lower speed and less fuel economy. I can cruise at 65 at half throttle. Where was your throttle?

Re: How-To: Valve Adjustment for Honda PCX
Ok I found the specs.
If no torque spec is specified these are safe specs for almost all general purpose fasteners.
Fasteners with 6mm threads
- 8 Nm or 6 ft/lbs
Fasteners with 8mm threads
- 20 Nm or 15 ft/lbs
Fasteners with 10mm threads
- 40 Nm or 29 ft/lbs

Are you using crows feet on the end I the torq wrench or are you tightening the lash jam nut until the lash doesn't move and then setting the torq?

Re: How-To: Valve Adjustment for Honda PCX
I can look it up I you guys want but when I was doing lots of work on Porsches there is a general torq spec based upon the bolt thread size. For instance anything that is 8mm (usually has a 13mm hex head) is 15ft/lbs. I understand that these bikes and Porsches have nothing in common. I'm just statin...

Re: Engine is dead..
No you cannot do a compression test if the engine worn turn with the starter. Check the oil for something that looks like a milkshake or at least contaminated oil. Your other option is to pull the spark plug and try turning it over to see if liquid comes out.

It's the labor that makes expensive cars costly. Our local porsche dealer in town charges a new walkin customer $275/hr flat rate.

Re: New to forum, and a new PCX 150 owner
Changing weights simply changes where you are in the power band. Dialing in the best weights is equivelant to being on the cam in a hotrod. Another example is trying to accelerate quickly in too gear. Changing weights is the equivelant of downshifting two gears and being in the heart of the powerban...
