Re: What is the range on the PCX?

Samurai it's not an mpg thing, as most people here are quoting what they get per tank, and our tank sizes are the same. 50cc scooters can sometimes have worse mpgs than 125s for urban riding as they are invariably ragged the whole time so their economy drops. Even though we both said we hammer the P...

Re: What is the range on the PCX?

That is curious Samurai - you shouldn't be THAT low, even if you're still bedding in the engine. I drive start-stop too, and the throttle is either fully open or closed the whole time. As I said I'm a skinny guy and you've got a slightly bigger engine, but you're getting half what I'm getting, seems...

Re: What is the range on the PCX?

I get 120-130 miles to a full tank, all urban. But I'm only 65kg and almost never carry luggage.

Re: London on a PCX (video)

I would struggle with why one would buy a small scooter. Simple, 100mpg beats the hell out of the 30mpg your average car gets. Fair point. But is the economy from a larger scooter (eg Forza) that much worse than a small scooter? According to figures mentioned on here, not that much. And you'd get t...

Re: London on a PCX (video)

There are plenty of infractions in the video! I was actually going to ask the North American guys about splitting/filtering in another thread. In the UK it's legal. I assumed it was legal everywhere, but through this forum learnt that only a couple of states in the US (don't know about Canada) allow...

Re: Move over Honda! I think i just found my next ride!

I'm not sure I see the market for this, not in Europe anyway. It's too cumbersome to be a city nip-about cutting up traffic, and it's not powerful enough to rival similar-sized scoots like the Forza or Burgman 400, which also have the same storage capacity. Sure, pricing will see where it's placed b...

London on a PCX (video)

My friend has uploaded this video of him riding across London on a PCX 125.

Re: Start/stop okay for car not scoot!

I think it's fine, although I agree the gains are minimal in any country. If you don't like it, you can always turn it off but I leave it on all the time. I exclusively drive in the city and I like it not so much for fuel economy, but it's quite nice to have a little peace and quiet when I stop at t...

Crisis averted, managed to reach in from the bottom and shake things until it fell out. You can delete this Maddie if you like, I would myself but I can't seem to.

Nice conversation I've had with myself here.

Ooops - quick reply required please!

I've dropped something down the side of the steering column, through the hole. It's a plastic bolt (was trying to attach something to handlebars in cold rain) and it slipped. My question is - can I leave it there or will it fall out when I ride/cause a problem to any moving parts? If I have to open ...

Re: Bike Test Auto UK

Yeah it's the same process - I got chatting to a guy when I did my test who was doing it on a 300cc automatic scooter as he didn't see the need to learn with gears, which was from his riding school (London). The Mod 1 and Mod 2 bits are the same - but all the slow stuff is way easier (and the pushin...

pozo just to say I've thoroughly enjoyed this thread, if you post up more pictures or text anywhere else do let us know, I'd love to see them - you take great photos, what camera did you take? SLR kit takes up quite a bit of space so wondering if I can just take one lens on trips. How did your scoot...

How are you converting between US and UK? I thought a gallon is a gallon but we have higher octane over here (in the UK)? Am I wrong?

Re: Keep bike from getting soaked

NB - I bought the cheapo £9 cover for the PCX from eBay and whilst it does a good job of making it inconspicuous and protecting from birdcrap and sun, I was sorely mistaken when I put it up expecting rain - it's not at all waterproof. I think I'll adopt the bin bag approach for when I'm out, and lea...

Re: Decision between PCX and S-Wing

Wow this thread degenerated fast. Why did no one tell me about the S-Wing before I bought my PCX?!! Every article I read made me think the PCX was for me. The S-Wing looks great. OK it's more expensive, but some good second hand deals out there. Ah well, I do love my little PCX, I'm a light user com...

Re: Rapidly mounting costs of owning a PCX!

Cheers gn - was that all inc? Because this price is assuming no additional work will be done over an oil change and general lube etc. No loan bike here, but that's OK. I've just got a £100 offer from a place in Leytonstone, so will prob go with them.

Re: Rapidly mounting costs of owning a PCX!

bump London-PCX, I'm due my 2500 mile service, did you find anywhere cheaper in the Big Smoke? I've called Scooters Limited on King's Road, who want to charge £120, which is better than £200 but still way more than the other fellas on here, although I realise they're outside London. I do intend on l...
