Re: How to: Oil Change for Honda PCX

I wouldn't worry too much about that dipstick reading. I've slightly overfilled mine on occasion and it didn't cause any problems. Once the oil level gets onto the wider part of the dipstick it will show differently on each side of the stick as the stick dips in at an angle. The problem on the PCX i...

Re: Important Tip: Cleaning the Oil Filter on the PCX- 2011

I clean mine in a paraffin (kerosine) parts washer. It mixes with the oil in the strainer and cleans it nicely.
Then I thoroughly blast it dry with an air line before refitting.
As you say, water and engine parts don't mix.

Re: New engine on model 2012 PCX 125

Edscoot, I doubt you need to worry about the 'minimum delivery 5 litres' thing. I assume that's a sign on the pumps. I think that just means that the calibration of the pump is only accurate over 5 litres. You can take less than that but they can't guarantee the amount is totally accurate. On the su...

Re: Fuel economy

How far is your ride? The shorter the ride, the less fuel economy you will have, because a lot of efficiency is lost to the initial heating up of the engine. That's very true Maddiedog. I used to consistently get 130mpg on my PCX but now I'm using a Silverwing for the longer runs and the PCX for sh...

Re: Servicing and warranty

He's right. Servicing can be carried out anywhere so long as they stamp your book.
This was actually explained to me by my Honda main dealer!!
Apparently the law on this sort of thing was changed in the UK a few years ago.
Some dealers won't admit to it though.

Re: Trouble removing crankcase cover

I've used cardboard to make gaskets loads of times and it's been fine. It was always the traditional way of doing things. When I started riding bikes if you bought a gasket people thought you must be rich! Thick brown paper can be good too for thin gaskets. It's not like the belt cover gasket does a...

Re: Trouble removing crankcase cover

You shouldn't have major problems removing the belt cover but they can be a bit tight. I found it a lot easier to remove the left hand lower coloured plastic (the bit under the footboard). Also don't forget to remove the black plastic air intake at the front of the belt cover (three 8mm bolts then i...

Re: Decline in MPG ??

Well done GN2 - respect to that man. Regarding the fuel consumption problem, I think the cold weather does affect it a bit as people have said. Do check the air filter though. I too have had a slight drop in economy. I put a new air filter in the other day, after 9,000 miles the old one was pretty m...

Re: Poor gas mileage

Don't forget also that your commute is only 4 miles each way. It takes a couple of miles for the engine to warm up properly and, until it's properly warm, the mpg will be lower.

Re: Android or iOS ?

Thanks for all the comments guys. I finally got around to cancelling the contract on my current phone so I've got 30 days to make my mind up. Lots of food for thought but I'm tending towards the iPhone 4s. I like apple devices. They may be a bit limited sometimes but they seem to do 'what it says on...

Re: Android or iOS ?

This was iateresting reading since I'm also gonna be looking for a new phone soon.
I've been thinking of an iPhone of some sort. However I already have an iPad. Is it worth having an iPhone as well or would I just be duplicating some of what I already have?

Front Plastics

This is a message for Eddie - sorry mate can't seem to reply to PMs at the moment as my login won't allow it so I had to put a post on. Sorry again as I haven't got the file showing how to remove the front plastics anymore. My useless piece of junk masquerading as a computer blew its brains out a co...
