Re: Dunlop Scootsmart vs Michelin City Grips

I'm a first time scoot rider and I have to confess that, at first, I was somewhat nervous when I first started riding. Now that I have a few miles on my PCX I'm much more comfortable with the handling, leaning etc. The only mod I did was to add a Givi windshield. The tires are stock and I won't repl...

Re: My slightly modded PCX

I'm of the opinion that. aside from the YSS shocks (which I wouldn't pay the price) the PCX is fine just as it is. Why mess with it when it performs like it does?

Brake lock?

Yeah, I know it's there and I did try it once but it does not work.

Why put it on the bike if it's worthless?

Re: What is the range on the PCX?

I'm in the US. I have very low mileage on my 150 (didn't get to my first oil change yet). I was able to go 140 miles on the last tank and I filled it to the top at 1.25 gallons. My figures show 110MPG. Will it get even better with more miles on it? I generally don't exceed 40 MPH on the local roads ...

Re: Sort of an Accessory

Cool idea...wouldn't be allowed in my neighborhood. :( So we have two cars and two scooters stuffed into our two-car garage. Same here. I have an SUV, all my woodworking power tools and the PCX jammed in the two car garage. It does work for me though keeping the car and scooter clean and secure. My...

Re: Saw a picture, found one and bought it straight away

If I tried weaving, splitting lanes, or going around cars at a light or a traffic hold up, I would be a dead man. At a minimum, ticketed, and, more likely, doored. The 50 cc scoots can get away with it since they are SUPPOSED to be at the side of the road, but with a regular licence plate, you are ...

Re: NYPD get the scooter bug

I'm amazed. A police department with some sense. Sure, it looks nice when you see a cop on a Harley but these will get the job done just as well, look good and save money all the way around. How will it save money? Most if the cost of an organisation is in the staffiing. Lovely flim flam from begin...

Re: CVT Help

I'm new to the PCX as well. I've noticed that the PCX slows very quickly when you let off the throttle. So far though, I haven't felt like I was being pitched forward. Now that I'm getting used to the slow down, I'm not releasing the throttle fully until I reach the spot I want to stop. I know I cou...

Ride Comfort

One thing I've noticed since I started riding the PCX is that the roads around here are nowhere near as smooth as I thought they were.

Re: Wide tyres and insurance

It's actually worse than that, using the wrong tyres could constitute an offence punishable by fine and/or points. There's no need for winter tyres on a PCX, on the few days you might need winter tyres it would be best to leave the scooter at home. I would have to agree with this comment. Riding in...

Re: Warning to those changing the gear/transmission oil.

I know almost all of us bought a PCX for the fun and fuel economy (I got 110 MPG on the last tank) To keep it economical we also tend to do our own maintenance to keep costs down. In this case though, with regard to transmission oil, if I had that much trouble doing it I think I'd bite the bullet an...

Re: Georgia riders - need some clarification on the law

I couldn't find anything in Utah DMV laws on operating specifically on an interstate. The law did state however that any two wheeled motor driven vehicle over 150cc is considered a motorcycle. Also, anything above 40cc requires a license and there are three classes. One is 90cc or less, next is up t...

Re: NH Motorcycle Exam

I find it interesting that you have "classes" of cycle licenses. Here in SD anything over 50cc needs a motorcycle license, doesnt matter if you have a 150 PCX or a 1100 Goldwing. All the same license. Pretty sure it's the same here in New Jersey, which to me is pretty damn scary. No way s...

Oh wow, yeah the test wasn't bad I passed. The weaving thru cones wasn't as bad as I thought the hardest for me was the u turn I hit some of the yellow. I got docked on the braking suddenly part.. Something about they measure speed and stopping but it was hard for me to get up to a good speed and b...

Re: NH Motorcycle Exam

I had a real problem with the circles. We had to do a tight figure eight at a very low speed within a striped in area. Not allowed to go outside the box and couldn't put a foot down . That part of the course I failed miserably. The rest was easy and I ended up passing. This was an MSF course and I w...

Re: PCX -- The Attraction

I've never owned a motorcycle. I wanted to purchase a scooter and went to the one and only dealer in town. They carried Honda and Yamaha and, when I saw the PCX it just looked like what I wanted. I've got to say that riding it does make you smile.
