The front part of the seat is about the same height but removing the hump allows more area to move around and move back and there is still room for a passenger. I'm very happy with the seat. I have also added some mirror extenders which made a big difference. Now I can easily see behind the bike vs....

Happy with my Puig also. I am a little taller so the Puig for me has great coverage from the neck down. The taller National Cycle shields probably have better coverage but I like the look of the Puig better so it was a compromise.
