Re: PCX 300...?

The new Honda Forza 300 scooter is out now in Thailand. The price is around 159 000 Baht (3975 Euro). The Forza 300 has the same engine (279cc) as the SH300. It should be capable of 130 km/h speed (140 indicated). It's heavy (192 kg) but the seat hight is super low (71.6 cm). "The Grand Voyage&...

It sure looks better than my PCX with the spilled red wine saddle.

My winter ride

Like I said in another thread, I used to have a Zoomer (Ruckus). I used it as my primary winter transport and commuter. Sometimes temperatures would drop to 20 degrees Celsius below zero, and she would still start. Ride-wise, it's paradoxical that the colder it gets, the better the grip on the road....

Your modified PCX looks fine. I just love the Ruckus (Zoomer). I once had one. I'd like to call your hybrid a "Pruckxus".

Re: The dr.simon collection!

That's some driveway you have. I love the Bonneville (Meriden or Hinckley, it doesn't matter). By the way, did you know that they are now made in Thailand, just like the PCX? The Triumph plant is in Chonburi. You can get a glimpse of the plant from the freeway if you go from Suvarnabhumi Airport to ...

Review on PCX150 that has some basic facts right

Here's a nice article with interesting information on the PCX 150. http://www.moto-choice.com/en/Bike-Review/239/honda-pcx-150-idle-stop-2012-present-urban-frugality.html Thus under full throttle acceleration it’s very fast up to the speed of 40 Km/h, (25 mph), fast up to 60 Km/h, (37 mph), relative...

Re: Route 66 crossing the Mississippi

For a while I thought that this bridge was seen in the movie Easy Rider. But no, that was Long-Allen Bridge at Morgan, Louisiana.

Re: My PCX, Johannesburg, South Africa

A nice picture and a nice scooter. I have been to South Africa once, Cape Town, in 1993. From my apartment windows I had a view of the Lion's Head. What a wonderful place. I took this photo of Jan Van Riebeeck while I was there. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/48/Jan_Van_Riebee...

Re: Traded in my old Wave for a new PCX150

I had a short day-trip today as well. Again, I took a run for the hills -- in the same general direction. This time I only rode along the main road between Saen Tung-Ban Nong Bon-Makham heading for a place called Khiri Than. There's a water reservoir there in a natural valley closed by a dam. My PCX...

Re: Traded in my old Wave for a new PCX150

Regardless of sect, do Buddhist places of worship generally resemble a Wat, or do Vihears standalone elsewhere as centers of worship? --------------- In casual speech I think it is safe to call any place of worship -- that resembles a temple -- a Wat. This applies to alien shrines, too (eg. Christi...

Re: Traded in my old Wave for a new PCX150

So the Wat is the Monastery and all of the buildings in the complex around it? ----------------- Westerners (Farangs in Thai language) usually think that a Wat means a temple, which is too simplified. A Wat is a sacred precinct with all the buildings necessary. Technically speaking, a Wat must have...

Re: Traded in my old Wave for a new PCX150

What's a Wat? ------------- I reckon you really want to know. Usually it's a joke around here 'what's a w(h)at'. A Wat is a place for worship, meditation and monastic studies -- the home of the shaved guys in yellow robes (monks). A Buddhist monastery, that is. The area is usually vast. It has vari...

There's one photo that I regret not posting above. It's on the way from Ban Nong Bon to Namtok Than Hin Dat.

Re: Traded in my old Wave for a new PCX150

I took my PCX150 for a short trip to the hills today. The hills (Khao Banthat, Cardamom mountains) are very close to the Cambodian border. There's a waterfall and a national park near Ban Nong Bon village named Namtok Than Hin Dat. On the way there I took a rest and had a snack, before turning on th...

Re: Traded in my old Wave for a new PCX150

My PCX150 has now 157 km on the clock. Today's ride was about 110 km. The seat seems to be a bit on the short side for the two of us. The suspension and frame was most of the time quite balanced and didn't struggle much on Trat's bad road surface. The engine had enough power to cope with other traff...

Is it possible to edit one's posts?

I couldn't find a dedicated area for questions about forum software or help in general. Sometimes I would like to make minor corrections (fix typos or find a better expression) after I have submitted my message. Is there a way to edit one's own posts? EDIT: now I see the button. It seems to be there...

Re: Honda SH150i

While the new 2013 SH150 is more expensive than PCX, it is a better scooter in almost every respect, too. I find it's flat floorboard more attractive and useful. The riding position is higher and the seat is better. SH150's body geometry is clean and basic, almost classic in its lines. A proper scoo...
