Re: How To: Install a Trunk

Very nice write up. One of the best I've ever read with all the pictures I feel it would be a snap. Can you post a photo with your macbook pro inside the trunk? I just want to see the clearance because I'm still having trouble imaging how it would fit . It's a darn big laptop.. Sure! Here you go.

Re: How To: Install a Trunk

I bought the Honda Rear Trunk Base 08L70-KZY-910, and it is indeed very sturdy metal construction. I have not yet installed it because I haven't decided on which trunk to get. I'm thinking, however, that the Monolock or Monokey universal bases can easily be installed by first drilling mounting holes...

Re: Givi E300, E340 & E370 photos on PCX150

I have a few photos posted in my "How To" article here in the forums for the E370. It was the only one that would fit my 15" MacBook Pro!

Re: Honda vs Givi Accessories

So does anybody know if the base for the PCX 150 will fit on the PCX 125? I have access to either and would prefer the stronger of the two, plus the 150 bracket costs less. Yeah, it is crazy that the much stronger one is less money than the old plastic one. Seems like they loaded up the cost on the...

Re: Honda vs Givi Accessories

I don't think there's anything flimsy about this rack. Hmm, that one's metal, and looks up to the task of a lot more weight. I've seen plastic ones like the one GN2 posted, never seen that nice metal one. That must be a new version they released with the PCX150, because the part is valid and linked...

Re: Engine Break In During Cold Weather?

Thanks PCX Commuter that's good info. I keep mine in the garage too but man it has been cold lately. This morning I had my coldest ride at 18F. It is the first trip I've taken that was uncomfortable, but only on my hands. Rode in the low 20s and never had an issue. In fact it was invigorating. Will...

Re: Engine Break In During Cold Weather?

Probably a dumb question but here goes. Are there any adverse effects if the majority of break in miles are ridden in cold weather? I just bought a PCX 150 a little over a week ago. I love it so much I can't stop riding despite the cold weather. At the rate I'm going I will have ridden the majority...

Re: Traffic Light Trigger

Illinois just passed a new law allowing motorcycles to run a red if after waiting at least 120 seconds, and it is safe to do so. Except for districts with over 2million population. (Chicago) I've only had a few lights I couldn't trip with the PCX. I learned in my MSF class that the key is to stop t...

Re: Honda vs Givi Accessories

There must be at least three different rear racks available. One is from Kivi (with the "ugly brackets"). Honda has a plastic rack that needs an adapter plate (from Kivi; as seen in my post above), and an all metal one that mounts Honda's own topbox directly (no adapter needed). I guess t...

Re: Upgraded to PCX 150!

Great pic. Very cute kiddos! I just sold my Sym Fiddle II 125 and am considering pulling the trigger on the new PCX 150 as a replacement. I used to have a 1200cc Harley Night Rod, but the wife will actually ride the 150 so I.don't mind having the smaller wheels. The nimbleness of the small bikes ar...

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm going with the recommended HP4M for now. Seems like the right balance and I am a factory, OEM man!

Re: HP4M or HP4S motor oil?

Hi You You. Good question. Overall, just reduced wear for the motor. Honda started using Molybdenum with the last series of Civic and applied it to the piston skirts as a friction-reducing technique to improve efficiency and decrease wear. It was the key ingredient in the old "Slick 50" if...

Re: Traffic Light Trigger

Alright, based on what I'm gathering here and have read elsewhere it really depends on the placement on the bike. From what I understand, you have to have a steel frame (yes, on PCX) and the magnet needs to be touching the frame to allow the frame to contribute to the magnetic field. Home Depot (har...

HP4M or HP4S motor oil?

Hi all. I prefer synthetic oil in my cars and bikes. I realize there is always controversy around the subject, which I'm hoping to avoid with this post. What I'm primarily interested in is the difference in Honda's HP4M and HP4S motor oils. Honda's recommended oil for the PCX 150 is the HP4M, per th...

Re: Traffic Light Trigger

Here in Tennessee, you have to wait a "reasonable" amount of time for the light to change. If it does not change, you are allowed to proceed carefully and in a safe manner through the intersection. Man, that can take a while!

Traffic Light Trigger

Hey everyone. Anyone have a favorite solution for a traffic light trigger? I've looked at a few different options, but always like the opinions on the forum! Well, most of the opinions... ;) I assume it the same everywhere, but in the US, we have a magnetic fielded box created by a loop of wire in t...

Khaosaming, great answer! A bit complicated, but certainly highlights those key differences. Not exactly the easiest in a casual conversation about the awesome PCX, but it helps!

Re: Trouble filling up PCX

I my experience, you have to actually back the nozzle off from that "full level" bar. It serves as the marker for "full." If you set the nozzle against the bar, it will trigger the back flow device and shut it off. Unlike a car, you can't get the nozzle fully seated with the rubb...

Just took a quick google looking for a flip up/down wall mount holder. I've read about them on other bike forums with happy reviews. Found this http://www.bellrpg.net/bottomsup/MA/category.asp?MAJ=001 Scroll down their home page and click on cup holders.....anything of interest? Perhaps it will sti...
