2013 PCX Speedometer questions

I don't take my outer cowlings off much. Traditional mechanical speedometers use lubricated rotating cables going into a front wheel hub or something like that. Is this how the 2013 PCX and later series determines speed and mileage covered ?

Re: What 13.8 volt amperage is available to run a radio?

My own 2013 PCX150 has an AC generator (not an alternator) that rectifies power from three phase AC to 12 volts DC. The book rates it at 308 watts. Lets call it 300. By my calculations of Ohm's law (feel free to correct me) Using the Power known is equal to current times voltage or dividing actual c...

Re: Effects of Extended Use At/Near Governed Top Speed

I agree with about everything already said. I have noticed that a local shop down the street sells a ton of Chinese scooters. What most of those owners decided and agreed on, was to change their oil once a month. The dealer doesn't overcharge them for oil change. Now these are air cooled. In a hot p...

Re: Info about PCX model year differences ....

Can anyone help me with the answers to the following questions? - Does the 2013 PCX model have a 12 volt charger? - With all the plastic panels removed, are there any mechanical or technical differences between the 2014 and 2015 PCX models? - What are the OEM variator roller weight sizes for the PC...

Re: Honda PCX 125, metal shaving inside transmission oil

Hi. Thanks first for taking the time to read me. I have a Honda PCX, year 2019. It now has 5,000 KM. Recently on my own, I changed the transmission oil (the first one). In the container where I drained the oil (I was curious) I saw that there was metal shaving. When I shined my flashlight on the ol...

Re: Reservoir tank empty

I pay attention to the following: are there leaks ? Check during the first five minutes after you stop the scooter. The scooter should have a radiator cap in good condition over the radiator. With enough light, when cold, carefully unscrew the radiator cap. The antifreeze should come out or be full ...

Re: PCX WW150D 2013 engine replacement possibilities

Hi. This seems to be my first post if i'm not mistaken. Anyways. It seems like i might have to change the engine on a PCX WW150D 2013 model. I tried looking around some and apparently not all engines would be able to replace the original. So my questions are basically (always talking about 150cc) A...

Re: water cooling on PCX150

The water pump runs off the camshaft. It does have a weep hole for when the inner water pump shaft seal wears out, it will show signs of failure. I haven't seen anyone here have issues with the water pump. The cooling system on this scooter is quite nifty though. One cool thing about it is that the...

Re: Drive Belt Failure

I have read that a GENUINE HONDA BELT should go 15,000 miles safely, and I am currently planning on that. It makes more sense to change the belt and repair any variator or rear drive face drive issues at the same time.

I ordered both my Michelin tires, for the PCX, one at a time from Amazon, knowing I could get 6 months more out of the existing ones. Nothing deteriorates in six months, and when you need it , ...................................................................they are there. Nothing is life is guara...

water cooling on PCX150

Can anyone tell me anything about the water pump on the PCX ? I have a 2013 PCX-150, and I know it would be driven by the crankshaft which also would drive any impeller fan, drawing air across the radiator, but how long does the water pump last and when it fails, does it blow out, blowing out all th...

Re: Scooter Decision -2016 Honda PCX OR 2008 Suzuki Burgman

Suzukis are well designed. I think the issues are one, are factory parts easily and readily available ? Unless you are handy and going to service it yourself, who will work on it ? Most of us try and avoid young inexperienced newbie bike mechanics who are ''learning on your bike''. So it is better t...

Re: Stock OEM Roller Weight?

I've been searching the forum but find conflicting information. I have a 2017 PCX 150 that I just brought and suspect the previous owner may have put in lighter weights as it revs quite high at low speeds. I will have the shop take them out and weigh them but I am not sure of stock roller weight. I...

Re: Fuel Issues

So then, your fuel problem is resolved ? The scooter runs fine for now. The gas tank has been ''cleaned'' by running the suction tube in it and rubbing all the surface rust off the rusting surfaces and sucking rust or trash out. I am vacuuming the tank one or twice a month so that any new rust will...

Fuel Issues

Two months ago I noticed that my 2013 PCX150 scooter gas tank was rusting horribly. It surprised me because I use only pure gas. Gas started turning brown. My dash fuel gauge had also got wonky, flashing all the time. I think a pothole I hit might have also shortened its life. I was running an erran...

Re: Stop/brake light not working 2013 PCX

You need a scooter. Stop guessing. Get a schematic and use any competent voltmeter ! Power starts at the battery, is normally fused. Most cars and bikes work with ground to chassis. A few vehicles may go point to point. For example you cannot ground to fiberglass. Most failures are fuses, bad actual...

Re: Coolant Temp for 2011.

Generic information: Your PCX150 has similar characteristics to any water cooled car. Engines need to get to 195 - 205 degrees F. as soon as possible to be efficient and have good gas mileage. That is why automobiles have thermostats. As I understand things, scooters and motorcycles have thermostats...

Re: Should I Replace Stock Tires Early?

The cheapest tire on the market with full tread is always safer than the best tire in the world, worn out. Borderline tires betray you on wet slippery surfaces. You can get away with it temporarily in the hot, dry summer, but during a sudden rainstorm ? when road oil floats to the surface ? And new ...
